When the Steelers are considering drafting a player or trading for a player, would it be normal for them to speak to any current players who might have competed with or against that player being considered to get their opinion on his ability, work ethic and what kind of person he may be?

Well we still saw some of it in Cleveland with Taco, so it's still on the table. A lot will depend how well Taco is able to perform that role.

Question, When free agents sign with the Steelers, Coach Tomlin explains what is expected, what roles they can play, and how much they would be playing, right? I just don't understand how King Mel was surprised at his lack of playing time.

Well, that's what you would expect, but sometimes players start getting mixed signals, whether from him or other coaches, and then they start thinking their role should be different. But I think free agency is a lot like college recruiting -- players are told a lot of things in order to get them signed.

Hello Gerry, Matt Canadas play calling against the browns was amazing . Had RPOs, play action, shotgun I mean we saw it all. This is what steelers need to win not just shotgun 80% of time. Do you agree ?

I think you're seeing the offense getting a little more comfortable with everything Canada is trying to do. You can't expect players to adjust to a new system just like that, especially with four rookies.

Gerry, there seems to be a great drop-off with RB talent from Najee on down.  Najee is that good but the others seem to be sliding downward.  Wouldn't a running back acquisition help?

Gerry, the Bears quarterback Justin Feilds, even though a rookie, has been gaining confidence. He runs wild like Lamar and has good accuracy in long throws like he had done at Ohio State. The Steelers are 0-3 against the Bears in the last 3 outings. Should I be worried?
