Gerry: I think Kordell's history mirrors that of none other than Pittsburgh golden boy Dan Marino.  Both had highly successful seasons (1981, 97) where they were the toast of the town.  Those seasons ended short of a championship with a disappointing home loss (Penn State, Denver).  Heading into 1982, Marino was a pre-season Heisman candidate for the #1 ranked Panthers, Kordell was mentioned as a future NFL MVP after that great 97 season and the Steelers were expected to be serious contenders in 98.  Both of them then disappointed terribly (1982, 1998) and then either to explain the poor play or to lash out rumors started and spread (cocaine use, Schenley park).  You could say the Kordell rumors were more vicious, but the Marino drug rumors cost him probably 20 or more spots in the draft and a lot of money.  What do you think of this comparison?  It would suggest that Pittsburgh fans have a problem with starting and spreading rumors, not race.
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Good comparison, but just another example of how the rumors that start, spread and become believable. Bill Cowher went through the same thing

Gerry, which group have we seen the last of?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
Rolling Stones?

Good morning Gerry, after 8 games, what's the top concern you see with the team's offense and defense?  thanks for you time!
Gerry Dulac
10:29
I hate to tell you T-R, I don't have concerns, never do. I let everything play out first.
JR

Payton Wilson and Patrick Queen were making plays all day, all over the field. Wilson is a  “dog” and getting better. So no chance PQ is around next year?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
I wouldn't say that. It will be interesting decision for Steelers.
T-Roy
10:29
Do you see team adding anyone prior to the trade deadline? if so, where do you see the need?  thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:29
I don't, not unless someone comes knocking with a ridiculous offer

Is the fact that Benton and Black switched positions?
What are the Steelers doing different this year than last to be successful on stopping the run when you consider that it’s pretty much the same guys?
Gerry Dulac
10:30
It could be part of the reason. Black has been very good and is a natural NT. Tough to move in there. Benton is more suited where he is

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Rodgers is adjusting the red zone plays to passes.   Does this get corrected after the bye or will he continue to try and force feed DK?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
I hope he stops feeding -- his word -- Metcalf, at least on those 50-50 throws that are more like 25-75.

Gerry, which group have we seen/heard the last of a.) should have hired a young coach b.) should have drafted shedeur c.) shouldn't have traded pickens d.) play the young QB, tank for the future e.) should have given porter what he wanted
Gerry Dulac
10:32
If we haven't, there is something wrong with the people who bring any of those up in conversation (read: chat).

Is there anything the team can do to help DK get through this rough patch in his career? Would they consider a sports psychologist?  Do the steelers have one?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
I don't want to dismiss it by calling it a rough patch because this is something that was a common occurrence in Seattle. But, let's be fair too -- we hadn't seen him drop an easy one like the other day in the past 4-5 games

With the succes of the run and TEs that can be a problem a good receiver via trade might pust the O to another level. Or do we hope getting back Pittman and Wilson will make the difference?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
Yes, more of the latter. That's what they think
Stan
10:34
Apologies if this has already been addressed, but what happened to Paul Zeise?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
It hasn't been addressed.

Gerry, the remaining schedule sure doesn't look as daunting as it did.  Philadelphia, Baltimore are quartebackless. There isn't a team on the schedule that, at this point, is unbeatable.  Not suggesting they win every game since "stuff happens"   which teams do you think are a match up problem d

I go week to week, I don't look ahead. Lamar and Hurts should have taught everyone that

A two part question - Will Khan make a move for a WR after bringing in Valdez-Scantling for Rogers? Will Metcalf be able to right the ship or is the team losing confidence in him? I rewatched the game last evening. Metcalf is a teamplayer. After Pickins, it is refreshing to see him blocking and hustling to help players get up after being tackled.
Gerry Dulac
10:36
He is definitely that. They have no problem with Metcalf's attitude, approach, prep. But stop throwing that sideline jump-ball to him as though he is Pickens

GM Gerry! Hope you enjoyed your trip to Paris a couple weeks ago. Any thoughts on if they will actually bring in any impactful WR, or stand pat?
Gerry Dulac

Paris was great!

Gerry - I love the chats, thank you.  Very excited about our trajectory.  It does feel like we are overthinking the goal to go situational football here.  Is that on McCarthy or is Aaron checking out of the plays into a pass.  I can't recall the last time a fade was a success to DK (or anyone) so find it hard to believe we waste two plays from the 2 going with that approach.  I suspect it won't happen again, but interested in your POV.  I am good with Muth from the 2 anytime given we are the new tush push team.
Gerry Dulac
10:37
That's more on Rodgers. He's is so many RPOs every game and has the ability to check out of them. And, with the way they were running the ball, those plays/decisions were inexcusable

What grade would you give Rodgers so far?  Some of this throws are on a rope and looks like the Rogers of old, but too many are wildly off target and you'd think he'd know how to not take sacks as much as he does. Not to mention the hubris to forcing fades to DK that never ever work (but that's more DK's problem). I'd give him a generous C+. But expect more from his level of experience.
Gerry Dulac
10:38
You are being too critical. They are 6-2, he has thrown a lot of TDs, few interceptions, and can still sling it as well if not better than any QB in the league

Good morning Gerry, thank you for all that you do. When do you believe Derrick Harmon will return?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
He is eligible to return for the Bengals game

Hi Gerry! It seems that with rogers complex system of symbols, a wide receiver who has been with him before is far more likely to be an impactful asset this year than someone who hasn't learned his secret language. Obviously MVS is already signed, but if the steelers opt against a trade, do you think a guy like Allen Lazard is an option to be brought in?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
No

Hi Gerry. With a number of receivers set to return in the next few weeks, do you think the Steelers will make a move before the trade deadline or stick with what they have? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I do not. They know they're getting all three WRs back very soon. And, I hate to mention this, but they've won four in a row without them. Give them credit for knowing what they are doing
