I don't think you should be worried about the defense until it is time to maybe worry. And, after the way they're playing the past three games, now is not the time

Hurts, Jackson, Prescott could all be trade candidates next year. Any chance the Steelers are trade partners?  What about Mac Jones as a free agent?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
You mean the Steelers should or could trade for one of them? That's not happening. They are done playing that veteran QB merry-go-round
Jim

I couldn't have been the only one yelling at my TV for them to run the ball on first and goal at the 2. Is there any logical reason that they did not do so after pounding the rock down their throat to get to the 2??????? Please help me understand the thinking behind that. Still upset about it if you didn't notice!!
Gerry Dulac
10:15
I can't. I'm the same way

Gerry, do the Steelers need to add another phase to their game to compliment running the ball and stopping the run effectively or can this carry them for the remainder of the season?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Have you been watching lately?? They've done both exceptionally well

Hi Jerry, When looking at PFF rankings Joey Porter Jr is currently ranked  27 out of 102 CBs, but when looking at stats like completions allowed and QB ranking vs him, Joey has top numbers. Do you know why is the difference?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
No. I don't get into those fantasy stats.

Watched the Patrick Graham news conference, I have to say that I am very impressed with what I saw. No disrespect to MT, but I feel like Patrick is more amenable to making changes and our defense is far less predictable

He's been very good about being adaptable week to week

Gerry: Does the team believe that Pittman's poor play was due to his injury?  Is there a chance that he can come back and live up to expectations or is the best that we can get going to be what he was delivering when he was out there which wasn't much?
Gerry Dulac
10:17
Poor play? He hasn't played. It's unfortunate, but it's not poor

10:17
Gerry, what is your opinion on the ineffective play calling inside the 10 yard line and why is it happening too often?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
My opinion? It stinks

I must say that the Browns game was a joy to watch. I just had a pit in my stomach, thinking I hope this isn't the Washington game of 2 years ago where they beat a good team at the time that turned out to be a middling team by year end, and in reality we are still an average team.

Gerry: given the long term QB situation, I understand their reluctance to trade draft capital for a much needed WR.  That said, there is also no guarantee that the Steelers will get this level of QB play again for many years.  If you were the GM would you consider trading Highsmith for a WR or trading him for draft capital and then using that capital to trade for a WR?  That would preserve the existing draft picks.  It is still somewhat of a luxury having 3 premier edge rushers.  Yes that would hurt edge depth, but they currently have a well below the line WR corps that would seem to put a low ceiling on their playoff possibilities.
Gerry Dulac

They are 6-2 and in first place. They got there with the players they have. They are not going to trade away one of those players now, especially Highsmith.

How do you fix DK Metcalf?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
You don't. He is what he is.

Thanks for your chats and happy Wednesday Gerry! How do you feel about this time in the second half of the season? doesn´t look like as hard as it looked on May.
Gerry Dulac
10:20
No Lamar Jackson. No Jalen Hurts. That's whay you can never predict wins and losses before the season. Things change.

Thank you for the chat Gerry. Your take on the DL depth. I think we got some great value with Rubio, Joseph-Day, and Jobity. They seem to make plays when they’re in and our LBs can flow to the ball. Your take on the entire D-line.
Gerry Dulac
10:21
The defensive line has been very good, led by the old man of the group. He continues to be outstanding. It will only get better when Harmon is back

Is Graham a better DC than Tomlin or was the team just in need of a new voice? The defense seems to be much better this season even after losing one of its best players in JPJ.
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I don't think it's fair to say Graham is a better DC. But I will say they are playing better. And that should tell you what Porter meant to the defense, aside from being highly penalized and no interceptions.

Wetjen looks tentative as he approaches the coverage. Is the blocking taking too long to establish or does he just need to be more decisive.
Gerry Dulac
10:23
Decisive it is!

Good morning, Gerry. I hope that you got a lot of candy on Halloween. I must say that this teams performances, closeness, and loose/joker mentality remind me of the 2010/11 Steelers teams.I know the talent is different,  but the attitude, and atmosphere around this team is truly fun to watch. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
I never try to evaluate the locker room or the closeness of the group. Winning makes them that way. It might not seem that way if they were 2-6

Gerry: I thought the Kordell documentary was spot on for how the Steelers mismanaged his development and the pain that vicious rumors can cause, but I take exception to how it brands the Steeler Nation as racist.  I was at that Nov 1, 1998 week 8 game against Tennessee where Kordell had the beer poured on him.  So many people left early during that stunning blowout loss vs a not yet emerged Tennessee team that I moved down from the nosebleeds to right behind the Steeler bench.  There was a fan that was loudly just slandering Carnell Lake saying he didn't show up today, he's washed up, etc. within earshot of the players.  By that point Lake was a 10 year vet and a multi-time All Pro on some great Steeler teams.  20+ years after Donnie Shell and Glen Edwards, should we believe that the Steeler Nation couldn't accept an African American safety or was there just one drunk fan disappointed from a stunning loss?
Gerry Dulac
10:24
You mean a fan was drunk and did something stupid?

Good Morning Gerry,  Has Dk been using game tape of Limas Sweed as a training aid?
Gerry Dulac
10:25
No. Just his receiver gloves

Does Arron Rodgers have the deep ball still?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Are you not playing attention? Tell me how QBs today can make that deep throw to Metcalf in France?? You can count on two fingers

At the end of the Brownie game McCarthy put Mason Rudolph in for the last series. Why?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
Why not?

Hey Gerry! Can you please make sense of this for me? We are first and goal at the 2, the Browns can’t stop the run, so we throw 2 incompletions, run it once and settle for 3. I mean did MM not think we could punch it though on three tries? C’mon man!
