Hi Gerry:  Thanks for the chats.  Smart move by the Steelers to finally set up the tush push with #83 given the ball and Washington pushing from behind.  Hopefully Tomlin will no longer live in his fears on Third and Fourth and 1.  Do you think the resign of Mark Robinson was for this purpose too?
Gerry Dulac
10:16
Agree with the first part. Not the reason, per your second part

What picks were the Steelers willing to part with for a wr trade yesterday? In your opinion
Gerry Dulac
10:18
I think it might have depended on the package of picks involved. I don't think any higher than a fourth, but, again, contingent on what was part of the package

Hey Gerry. We are at about the midpoint of the season…what’s your prediction for AFC and NFC Championship games?
Gerry Dulac

Good morning, Gerry. I thought that the Steelers were all in this year, signing AR, JR, DKM………..why then didn’t they trade for a true number 2 wideout?  They have plenty of draft capital and the way this college class of QB’s are performing, why not go all the way in for this year?  Maybe AR would consider returning next year and give Will Howard a chance to show off his skill set?

You raise a good point, as did an earlier questioner. Let me raise this point: The Steelers traded a fifth-round pick for Mike Williams, comes in and immediately makes a splash play, and is barely used or targeted again. Averaged 19 snaps a game for his time here. Was that worth the investment if they weren't going to use him?

Hi Gerry:  Thanks again for the chats. Even with Rodgers why do the Steelers run so few, if any, short slants over the middle on third and 3-5 or so.  Every good team I see do that week after week.  That is what made Brady with Welker and Amendola year after year.  The Steelers keep doing behind the line short passes to the flat that rarely make the first down.  Head scratching.

Does the lack of trades at the deadline say anything about how they view the 2026 QB draft class?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
If it says anything, it says they believe the 2026 QB class is still pretty good

Good morning Gerry. Do you agree that the NFL is an offensive minded league?  If so do you think the Steelers next coach should have an offensive background.?  Also why is Smith still calling dink and dunk plays?  It’s been 5 years of dink and dunk between Canada and Smith. It’s time for a change. If it’s a personnel issue then who is that on?  Thank you
Gerry Dulac
10:25
It is an offensive-minded league, for sure, and most of the young coaches who have had success have offensive backgrounds. The guy in Seattle is one of the exceptions. All issues are the responsibility of the head coach and how he wants to play

Gerry - what does the defense mean when they say the game plan was simplified?  What changes were made on Sunday vs. the defensive game plan from the GB and CIN games?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
That means they put fewer formations/alignments in the game, allowing the players to not get bogged down with two many potential calls

Can Ramsey address the team every Saturday night Gerry?  Asking for a friend. Haha.  Whatever they did last Sunday, more of that please!  👍
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Haha. It wasn't just Ramsey, either. Jonnu Smith preceded him and, apparently, sounded like a motivational speaker. But Ramsey followed that and captured the room.

Gerry, I think if Rodgers stays healthy and the team doesn't collapse down the stretch there is at least a 50/50 chance he wants to come back next year. Do you think the Steelers would want him back? Seems to me they would. I think he's been very good for them, and there is no guarantee the Steelers will be able to snag a QB they desire in round 1 next Spring. Seems like Rodgers would be a good mentor if they were to grab a QB, Will Howard has a great relationship with him.
Gerry Dulac
10:28
They haven't and they won't discuss till after the season. All I will tell is both the Steelers and Russell Wilson intended to do a new deal after the season, especially when they were 10-3, and how did that work out?

You seem like you generally dislike your job. Are you contractually obligated to do the chat sessions or...?
Gerry Dulac

You wouldn't believe how much extra they pay me to entertain you guys

Do you think Tomlin has learned from his own definition of insanity? (The constant movement of the defensive players.) Do you think he will keep the last game defensive strategy going forward, a more simple and consistent defense or will he go back to the insanity of his master plan? Hahaha...Always enjoy your chats and thanks for your contributions.

Uh, after 19 years in....????

10:29
Gerry, why do my emotions about Omar constantly swing from he's a genius to "I don't know if he knows what he's doing". It can't be this hard to get a legitimate wr2.
Gerry Dulac
10:30
Sure, they could go get anyone they want.....if they're willing to give up the store

Think MVS and Rodgers can recapture some of the success they had in GB or is this going to turn out more like the Mike Williams trade did last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Right now, it's not even the Mike Williams situation. He was brought in for the 53-man. MVS is on the practice squad

10:31
Gerry: do you have any insights on how the implosion of the supposed "great QB draft class of 2026" affected the Steelers trade plans?  I thought it might make them more aggressive since there seem to be at most three QBs who will have first round grades and the Jets and Browns will almost certainly pick up two of them.  Does this mean they are high on more QBs or see the need to use those extra draft picks to get younger and cheaper on defense?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Apparently, it didn't affect them at all. Their plan remains the same.

10:32
Gerry: can you speculate as to what player the Steelers were thinking about trading away for a pick?  Were they only going to do this if they could also bring in a player in a separate deal?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
I don't know who that might have been, but it wouldn't have been anyone of note. Whoever put out there that they might willing to deal or are considering to deal Alex Highsmith is totally off base and doesn't know what he's talking about

Hello! As a casual fan, I wanted to ask why the Steelers don’t use the middle of the field often? Is that game plan? Thank you!
Gerry Dulac
10:34
Wait a minute, no CASUAL fan would ask why the Steelers don't use the middle of the field!!

Hi Gerry. I just saw a chart on the last time each NFL team won a Super Bowl. Surprisingly, 12 of the 32 teams have never won one and 7 haven't won in the 2000s. Free agency as we know it now started in 1993 (according to what I've read). My question is with that data, is there really parity in the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
Of course there is.

10:34
Hi Gerry! Why in the world did the Steelers not pick up a receiver by the trade deadline??? It’s an obvious hole in the offense. Do you think they are just downplaying acquiring MVS as a “practice squad guy” and plan on getting him up to speed quickly and promoting him to the 53 considering his past relationship with Rodgers?  That would be the only thing that  would make sense of them sitting on their hands coming up to the trade deadline.
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I know that sounds as though it might make good sense, but that's not the reason at all. They did try to get a WR but apparently not for what was being asked in return.

Will OK have a press conference to talk about trade deadline like penguins and pirates GMs do? Would like to hear some reasoning as to why no trades for offensive help or DB help. Thanks G!
