Do you really think a clock management blunder will cost someone a Super Bowl? That's really no different than a delay of game penalty costing a team a Super Bowl.

Do you see Nix going to the IR and Sutton smith added to the active roster?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
I'm not sure. I think they want to hold off on Nix as long as they possibly can
Gene
11:18
How serious are the injuries to Ola and Chikilo? I see they resigned Sutton Smith to the PS.
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Sutton Smith is an inside LB, not an outside backer

Gerry, it's a funny thing isn't it, how the defense has rallied after Tuitt's injury. Heyward, Watt and Dupree (of all players) have been superlative. And with the brilliant trade to get Minkah, this defense may be elite by season's end. How's Devin Bush coming along?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Imagine if they had Tuitt?? He was the most disruptive player before he got hurt. And they're still disruptive up front

Why wouldn't the Steelers mix some selective run options they displayed against Cincinatti for their first win? Seems that it helped pen some better running lanes. At least keep the defense off balance. Need to make these run options sprinkled once in awhile.

Well, let's see, maybe it worked because IT WAS THE BENGALS!!

Hi Gerry: I know he's growing in his role, but do you think Mason Rudolph looks for the checkdown read too quickly instead of pushing it up the field?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Yes, but that's what happens when you're a young QB. The converse is to just drop back and throw it downfield, regardless of the coverage, and risk interceptions. I will remind everyone -- AGAIN!! -- this is not a 16-year veteran playing quarterback. This is a guy w 6 NFL starts who is learning every week.

I'm a Ben fan. But, a lot of the issues that are making this offense's (and Mason's) development difficult right can be traced to tailoring it to Ben's liking. It's no secret that the only reason Haley is out and Fichtner is in due to Ben's relationship with both of them. The O-Line was tailored to him (and very well tailored, I admit), and now they can't run the ball consistently enough to get more defenders in the box allowing MR more freedom to go downfield. And Switzer...?  Given this, should the team make offensive personnel decisions going forward more with B
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Oh well. That's one of the downsides when you lose you two-time Super Bowl winning QB in Week 2. Was anyone planning on that? Of course not.

12 teams made the playoffs last year and none of them had a WR the quality of the one who departed the Steelers.  So why when there is player  loss do "national" pundits assume the worst?  Not saying the Steelers have done enough to replenish WR.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Cause they need something to talk about I guess. Ever see the stupid subject lines they flash on the screen?? Ridiculous and premature, usually

How vulnerable is the Cleveland offensive line.
Gerry Dulac

I would imagine the Steelers will be looking at 6 or more sacks tomorrow night. The numbers of sacks they have against the Browns is crazy. Wish I had the number in front of me. Check Twitter later. I'll get it.

Hi Gerry. There is no way anyone knows if Ben can return next year so they better hope Mason gets better. A 38 year old QB coming off surgery on his throwing elbow is 50/50. Am elbow injury ended Bradshaws career.

Thanx for the update JS

Working in Akron, constantly hear the ESPN chatter from Cleveland.  They are on Baker for saying the crowd needs to be more quiet on 3rd downs, on him for his immaturity, etc.  The Browns and city, are one blow-out from imploding and their season being over and they know it.  Can we deal the death-blow tomorrow night Gerry?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
If the Browns would've lost to the Bills, then lost to the Steelers, I think Freddie Kitchens would have been the latest in a line of Browns coaches to be fired after a loss to the Steelers

It seems that fullback is a key position in the Steeler offense, so why not have two people that can play the position ?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
You answered your own observation -- it's not a key position. If it were, they would have 2. If it were, Nix would play more than he does when he's healthy.

Minkah, the best Steeler trade since The Bus?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Easy one

Is this the best 4 game stretch from the coaching staff during the Tomlin era?  I would think it would have to be.
Gerry Dulac
11:33
It's been a good one. Not sure about the best because in 13 years I'm sure there have been some others.

Shouldn’t highly paid O lineman be able to pass pro AND road grade someone?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Not necessarily. Then everyone would be an All-Pro

I was at the Rams game and have seen the fumble Fitzpatrick returned for the TD numerous times, sure looked like a forward pass. Whats your take?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
I agree. Never seen a fumble go forward 15 yards like that one did. Steelers got away with one there

11:34
if you had to look into your crystal ball, would you say Rudolph is a quality starting quarterback in this league or someone who can fill in admirably as a great back up.
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I think he can be a starter. Definitely a quality backup. He's already proved that and he's only going to get better
Joe
11:35
Defense has been great. One guy not mentioned is Alualu who has been solid for them. Agree? Also do you feel with the weather we will run it more Thursday?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
He is a solid backup, nothing more. But, yes, solid

Gerry, I love your coverage & reporting. My question is how can an NFL team have such a horrendous punt & kickoff return team?  Where’s the accountability?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
For a coach who preaches not living in your fears, Mike Tomlin lives in his fears on punt returns. He lives in fear of a fumble instead of trying to get some production to help out an offense that struggles to score points. That's why Ryan Switzer is back there. He's dependable. He can catch. He doesn't fumble.

Gerry, the defense feels like its coming together and can be special enough to carry the day.....how big was that loss to Baltimore in the big picture for playoffs.....do you think Rudolph has potential to be more than a game manager, and if not, is that enough to make a run
Gerry Dulac
11:38
There's still a long way to go. One loss, even to the Ravens, won't define the season. We've already seen that. I think Rudolph is showing he's a little more than a game manager
Craig

Gerry, Credit to you, you kept repeating that the problems on D were not coaching but talent.  Unfortunately, the problem has shifted offense so the pundits have a new target.  Will the Steelers fans ever just take a breath and appreciate this organization and what they accomplish year in and year out in remaining competitive and in the hunt?
