Ok kids, we're going to start our chat in about 5-10 minutes so get ready....

Ok here we go...fire away!

This run play calling reminds me of the days of Joe Walton having Merril Hoge run wide. It never worked but he kept calling it. Will Fichtner ever figure it running wide doesn’t suit Conner’s strengths?
Gerry Dulac

Let's hope so. Is it not up his alley, as they say.

Has any other player been fined for “socks too low” a la Ju Ju & JC? Thanks Mr Dulac!
Gerry Dulac

I'm sure they have, though, alas, I'm sure Elias doesn't keep that stat.

Thoughts on J Spieth fade from elite level play? Thanks for chatting!
Gerry Dulac
9:53
Shocking. Sad to see. Can't keep doubles and triples off his card. He has become a mental case.
Where’s my Clark Bar?

Good morning Gerry, How does Justin Layne look to you?
Gerry Dulac
9:53
Tall.
9:55
OK, how about this....he's been looking good. In other words, he hasn't been bad because you haven't seen a major gaffe from him or where he has been beaten for a big gain. The coaches like him. They know he just needs a little more seasoning, and he's getting it little by little

Good Morning Mr. Dulac!  My question involves you looking back over your considerable time paying attention to an NFL locker room.  By this point of an NFL Season, is part of the 'Rookie Wall' being able to generate the energy to stay focused, or is it a lack of understanding what focus means at the NFL level?
Gerry Dulac
9:57
It's a little of both. Sometimes, focus helps maintain energy. And sometimes energy enables focus. But the NFL rookie season can become a grind if you have, as usual, 4 preseason games and 16 regular season games. That's almost two college seasons in five months. Toss is playoff games, maybe, and that wall now becomes a mountain.

Hi Gerry, I find it hard to believe Ben isn't in the MVP discussion. I will acknowledge it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things BUT the fact that he's coming off a career threatening injury, leading this team to 9-0 (hope to be 10-0 after sunday) but yet not a peep. Yet some how Rodgers is one of the front runners but if he was doing what Ben is currently doing it would be a lock to win already. Makes no sense.

I think he will start to be in the discussion and I will make sure of it this Sunday. Just wait

With Mike Tomlin openly admitting the obvious -- the  running game being below the line -- what is the major fix needed? More push from the O-line (do they have that capability)? More two-back sets with the fullback leading the runner into the hole? More north-south runs vs. trying to get to the edge? What are your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
9:59
The fix is this -- committing to a run offense, changing the way the linemen block, using a fullback more often. But that is not their DNA. They are built to protect Ben, and rightfully so. That's the whole key to their success.

why do think Jalen Samuels is not being used more?
Gerry Dulac

Why should he be used more?

An observation and not a question. Many are saying this game is a trap because it’s before the Ravens, but Tomlin has a ridiculous winning percentage of .769 in the game prior to the Ravens. He’s not bad in the game after either at 0.600.

Hi Gerry. Say things keep going well for Ben and he wants to extend his contract and even give the Steelers a little discount. How much under normal starting QB value could they go? Does the NFLPA have a say in those negotiations?
Gerry Dulac
10:01
He is not going to give them a discount, nor should he. His value is his value. It's up to the team to determine what they think that is. The NFLPA has no say in his value.

Good Morning Gerry, I see Coach Tomlin acknowledged the running game was not up to snuff. Did he say anymore how they might remedy this?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
No, but I wouldn't expect him to say how they were going to fix it, only that they would. Let's wait and see. I'm not holding my breath.

Why do they have Connor running wide when he doesn’t have the speed to do it. That play should be for MacFarland your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
As Verne Lundquist once famously said....Yes sir!

Best guess as to the Steelers record after the next four games? 12-1 sound about right?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
Easy guess

What is wrong with the run defense?  Our guys have given up over 140 yds in each of the last three games?    I have truly enjoyed this forum over the past several hearse is

I am as surprised as you, especially after what happened in Dallas and against Bengals

Gerry, I seem to remember some New England teams that would just throw 60 times a game against us and pick the defense apart and keep winning games. But I don't ever remember people freaking out that they needed to find balance. I know later versions of the Pats turned back to running, but if you're really good at something why not just do it?

Since I'm just a fan, I can look as far ahead as I want without affecting the team. Bigger chance for a loss: the brannies or the colts?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Colts, but it's at home

Do you have any sense of how the Steelers staff does their 'film grading'?  Is it a (#) point scale, just a + / -, or does it slide around based on the individual coach?
Gerry Dulac
10:05
I don't know the answer to that, but I'm guessing it differs from coach to coach

Gerry, what’s your thoughts on the use (or lack of) play action in this offense? Could it actually help the run game? It seems teams are selling out to stop the run, but if they get burnt on a couple play action plays, maybe the run game would open up!
Gerry Dulac
10:06
Play action tends to help the passing game, not the running game. And it only helps if the running game is any good. It's the old cart-before-the-horse theory

Hey Gerry. I know there is some talk of Steelers possibility of going 16-0 but if Chiefs dont lose another game dont we really HAVE to try to accomplish undeafeted season? Who do you see the Chiefs losing to?
