All part of the packages they use and the players designed for those packages

Hey Gerry.   Appreciate the chats.   I have two questions regarding QBs...first how likely is it Rodgers plays this week given his wrist injury and that Tomlin is keeping the door open on his return...secondly...I know it's early but do the Steelers still intend to go after a QB in the first round of next year's draft with the picks they are set to acquire?   I'm not impressed with any of the prospects except to the kid in Indiana possibly.  The following year's crop looks quite impressive.  I'd rather see them go after a top WR or defensive impact player from what I see currently.   Thoughts?

I'm not sure how likely it is Rodgers plays, but with so many variables and boxes to check to see if he is capable, I'm guessing he won't. As for the draft, I don't think they're going to reach for a QB just to take a QB. But they know they can't keep going the way they are and it's time to find the future

Do you think Pierre should remain the starter at corner or should they go back to Slay?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
Slay is the starter. But see above answers for clarification and amplification

Starting Slow over Pierre is another example of Tomlin trying to be cool with players and his reputation over what is clearly better for the team. No one on their right mind thinks Slow is a better choice than Pierre, agree?

You’ve pointed out Fields poor record when not playing for the Steelers. He did have some success here, certainly more than his other stops. If the Jets were to release him, is there any chance the Steelers would bring him back?
Gerry Dulac
10:33
Anything is possible. Arthur Smith likes him
Rahn
10:33
When all is said and done, do the Steelers find themselves on the outside of the playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
I think they have to win the division to get in. Don't think they make it as a wild card. Not with the 3 teams in the west, 2 in the east and even 2 in the south.
Rahn
10:34
The possible first-round QB picture for April has turned upside down and is fascinating. Think the Steelers can sit where they slot, get someone and keep that draft capital to fill more holes?
Gerry Dulac
10:34
They are not intending to sit where they slot

Any news on Warren, Holcomb and some of our other injured players or will they wait till Friday to make some decisions on them as well as Rodgers?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
Nothing more than what Tomlin said yesterday. But he said Warren was cleared to return to the game against the Bengals, even though he didn't, so I assume he should be ready for the Bears.
Rahn

Do you have thoughts on the home crowds i.e. more visiting fans, tepid enthusiasm, etc.?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
The Green Bay game was the only one with a noticeable number of away fans. But I think when the team is playing with the inconsistency the Steelers are, fans are going to be tepid/leery.

Do you think Valdez Scantling gets a chance to play this week?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
No

Odds that Joe Flacco completes the AFC North circuit and signs to back up here next year?

Slim and none and, well, you know the rest....

Gerry. Can you explain to me why Smith is playing more than Muth?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
I wish I could. I think management would like to know the same thing

Do you think we'll let A-aron get a rest and Let Mason an Howard handle the Bears
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Only if they deem he is incapable of playing and performing
Rahn
10:38
You and Ed don't like talking about punters so let's talk punt returners. Rank these: Woodson, Lipps, A. Brown, Randel-El, Larry Anderson, Theo Bell.

Hi Gerry, Tomlin is often backhand complimented with "keeping the team together" en route to his many non-losing seasons.  But should he get more genuine credit for making adjustments throughout the season to keep his team on a winning track?  The Steelers went from getting killed in the secondary to shutting teams down in recent weeks.  There's at least a little coaching credit to give there.
Gerry Dulac
10:40
Oops...here's the answer to Rahn's question: Pretty much in the order you listed.
10:41
And here's Chill Dave's response: Of course he should get credit. Same with Teryl Austin. If people are going to criticize Austin when things are bad, then applaud him when things go right.

Gweeu what do you think about the play of the defense vs the Bengals i think they played good also your NFL picks are working now
Gerry Dulac

My answer to both is good!

Going back to TJ's sack, should defenders be able to realize that based on how the play is developing that a QB is going to get the throw off (as was the case here, TJ was not getting a sack) and therefore need to do a better job of adjusting so they do not risk a flag on a hit?  Is getting the hit really worth it?

Sometimes it is, or so they think

Hi Gerry. Who do you think is the better quarterback right now? Not career resume. When both are healthy in 2025. Mason Rudolph or Aaron Rodgers and why? Thanks!
Gerry Dulac
10:42
I think we know the answer to that

Gerry, please help me understand better why you reference George Pickens being such a cancer. Can you give us a story or anecdotes to support that? It’s hard to watch a guy produce like Antonio Brown somewhere else. And only get a 3rd back for him. Love your work.
Gerry Dulac
10:43
And how did it all go down with my former radio partner? But don't ask me, ask the guys in the locker room. Give it time in Dallas

any chance the spitting incident will be a teaching moment for Tomlin and he realises that although it’s a very emotional game, the key might be in CONTROLLING one’s emotions?
Gerry Dulac
10:44
While idealistic and agreeable, not sure that's going to happen with some players

Bill in LA might disagree, but the fact that the Raiders haven’t tried Pickett in spite of how bad they’ve been, tell us all we need to know about Pickett?
