I hear ya there. I'm not a fan of the excessive trash talking, but I understand it's been going on for years. And it's a part of the game, a part of any competitive team sport. But some guys take it too far and invite what we saw the other day

Hi Gerry, thanks for the chat. Granted Warren did ft hurt Sunday so I do understand keeping him out after the fact. But are you buying Tomlin’s reasoning that Gainwell was the hot hand? I don’t think he was lighting the world on fire at the time of Warren’s injury. And it always seems they get a big play from Warren like his long run, and then he disappears for a while.

Warren had 54 yards rushing and was averaging 6.8 yards in the first half against the Bengals. While Gainwell eventually finished with seven catches for 81 yards and two touchdowns, he only had six carries for 18 yards and two catches for 19 yards at the time of Warren’s injury. Yeah, I was surprised at that comment.

Even with Slay coming back, why wouldn't they just go with Pierre as the starter?
Gerry Dulac
10:18
Doesn't mean Slay will stay in that role

Apologies to Bill in LA if I beat them to the punch: Will KP have a chance to prove the other 3 franchises wrong or is Geno Smith still a better option (he's looking pretty awful)? Also, it seems to me the NFL has too many primetime games in its schedule, the product on display is wildly inconsistent.  I wish I could hear Pat Summerall having to call two and a half minutes of kneel downs at the end of MNF!
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I doubt KP is going to prove the other three franchises wrong. But the Raiders problem isn't Geno Smith, its the lack of talent around him, including the OL

any chance they may elevate MVS or Samuel Jr. for Bears game?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
Nope

Looks like Warren was injured on a hip drop tackle and throughout the season I’ve noticed other hip drop tackles during some games, yet they are not being called.  Does the NFL share with players and teams after the games for fines/suspensions and if so, are those details made public?   And why isn’t the penalty being called?  It’s pretty easy to see when the defender swoops around the back of the offensive player and lands in his lower body.

I agree, but the league lets teams and players known about violations, especially the part when they tell them you owe $10,000

Just a comment... for those who think you are snarky in these chats, they must not have participated in Ed's chats before he retired.  Keep up the good work!

Hello Gerry, do you think that despite the Rodgers wrist injury they will still go with him because he owns our week 12 opponent pretty much?
Gerry Dulac
10:21
I think that sounds nice but I don't think that will be a determining factor

Good morning Gerry.  What was the most recent season that the Steelers had a better running back room?
Gerry Dulac
10:22
I don't think it was that bad last year

10:22
Do you believe Slay should start over Pierre?  Slay has been beat quite a bit and when Pierre has had opportunities he's played well.
Gerry Dulac
10:22
Wait till game time

What did the Steelers do differently to shut down Chase this past game?  Was he double teamed?  Different personnel?  Focused on him while in zone?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
They got up on the line of scrimmage and disrupted their timing and routes. They didn't play scared against him and Higgins like they did last time

Good morning, Gerry. Is the decision on QB1 essential wait to see if AR proves he can secure the football?
Gerry Dulac
10:23
That's part of it, though I think they know what's going to happen

I've read in the past that Washington has had knee issues.  Is that still true?  I just wonder if his increased snap count will be an issue.
Gerry Dulac
10:24
He did coming out of college and they bothered him his rookie season. But doesn't look like it now.

Game plan going to be run heavy with most passes going to TEs and a few deep shots? Should they change it up. Defenses seem to have figured out how to stop their jumbo package
Gerry Dulac
10:25
I don't think you're going to see a huge change in what they do, other than the normal tweaks/adds in any weekly game plan.

Is Dugger a short term answer to get though the season or will he be around longer?
Gerry Dulac
10:26
I think he is proving it might be good to keep him around for a while, though that might be up to him once D Elliott is healthy to play again

If Rodgers really wants to play, but he’s not 100%, is that in the Steelers best interest to have him play injured and probably very hesitant to take a hit? Mason Rudolph looked much better than Rodgers did on Sunday before Rodgers injury. I think they should put Rodgers on the bench for two weeks and let him heal. Mason is the better quarterback right now in my opinion, but I’m sure they’ll let Roger start if he wants to.
Gerry Dulac
10:27
I don't think it will be Rodgers' call. And let's not be so quick to dump on Rodgers. He has played beyond what anybody expected of him this year so far.

If Tomlin loses to CHI, BUF, DET and splits with BAL… would that possibly ever be enough to move on from him? Similarly to backing into the playoffs last year losing to KC, PHI, BAL, CIN. When is just not good enough?
Gerry Dulac
10:27
Nope.
Jim
10:28
Good Morning Sir, which record wins the division, 10-7, 11-6? You have the Ratbirds?
Gerry Dulac
10:28
10-7. And my preseason predict was Ravens win division, Steelers a wild-card team.

I’m not sure how interchangeable the safeties are. But, if Elliott were to come back, could he and Duggar play safety together and allow Ramsey to return to his previous role?
Gerry Dulac
10:29
They could do that I think, but I know right now they are comfortable with the role Ramsey is playing.

Gerry hello from Chicago, I see the Steelers coming this weekend. My crystal ball says Bears 31 - Steelers 27. What does yours say.
Gerry Dulac

Something close to that

There seems to be a trend of Warren running the ball down the field to the Red Zone, and then disappearing from the office as they try passes or run Kenny. Why not give the ball to the man who constantly makes explosive runs for gains?
