I don't because, personally, I thought it was an ugly football stadium with all that dead open space around the field. And my family had season tickets so I sat in the upper deck for EVERY game. I think what people miss are the great Steelers teams that PLAYED in that stadium and all the memories associated with that, not the stadium itself.

Why do the Steelers, insist to throw 40-50 yard passes downfield constantly( with minimal results),  & put themselves in uncomfortable downs, 2nd & 13, or 3rd &  8, &  do they know it is legal to throw between the hashes?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
Nothing wrong with letting the opponent know you can and will attack downfield. Or even drawing a pass interference, perhaps, which we have seen on several occasions this season. Just because you're not completing all of them doesn't mean you quit trying.

After the Titans win, seems there's a lot of passive aggressive comments about Ben calling the plays himself being a catalyst for the big production. Is there anything to the idea that the players seem to have that the offense is better off in Ben's hands than Haley's?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
The offense is better off when it's working, doesn't matter who is calling the plays. Do you know how many plays that work are being called by Haley, especially the run plays? A lot.

Do you think 'balance' really means not to show Belichick too much on film before the Patriots game?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Ha. No. But I like the thought

Have the Steelers tried working in Martavis from the slot position at all this season?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
That's like putting a snow plow on a Maserati.

why don't the steelers spread the field more with 4 wideouts n let bell run on the other team? has a huge success rate
Gerry Dulac
11:20
I'll tell Haley

Beg to differ, Gerry, but they did not just start giving up those big plays. Didn't Brisset have 2 60+ yard TD's? Almost every game this season they've given up a long TD catch or run
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Yes, that's what I said. That's the last two games. 60, 61 and 75 yards. They've played 10 games. That's two games, or just 20 percent of the time. THEY JUST STARTED.

Is Cam Sutton in the mix to return punts?  AB has seemed reluctant to even catch them sometimes.
Gerry Dulac
11:22
No, not now

Hi Gerry, Do you think Ben is the most 'underrated' QB in his era?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
For a two-time Super Bowl winning QB, yes. I will point up that Troy Aikman won 3, and if you'd ask 100 people to list the top 20 QBs of all time I'd be willing to bet all 100 wouldn't have Aikman on their list.

To be honest, is it really possible to get some kind of a supplement from your local GNC store and have one of the ingredients be on the banned substance list for the NFL?
Gerry Dulac
11:24
It might be possible but every player knows to check every ingredient in every thing they ingest.

Gerry, any chance of the Steelers would show some interest in Kirk Cousins if Ben decides to retire?
She Had Man Hands
11:25
The tackling on this team is bad, yes, but shouldn't fans realize it's not isolated to this team? It's bad across the league.
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Oops... as to the Cousins question: I guess there's a chance, but....
11:26
As for the tackling question, yes, it's bad everywhere. Not just isolated to the Steelers

Jerry, after the bye week, in the first half of Indy game the steelers were very sluggish. I heard comments that it was because of bye week. Does a bye week cause players to lose a step? If so, why do we strive to win a bye week in the playoff hunt?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Very good point. The difference is, after playing 16 games, I think a bye week is a good thing. But I think the significance of getting a bye week is not in the rest, it's getting a free pass into the second round and a home game.

Is it me or does it seem like any time Ben is asked about a play that worked or is asked to talk about a game where the offense clicked he takes the credit rather than giving any to Haley? It's always the play worked because he changed it or the offense was effective because they ran no huddle with him calling the plays.

Gerry, Le'Veon Bell 29th in yds/rush at 3.8.  He was 4.9 in 2016.  Leads NFL in attempts by wide margin. NFL adjusts, & Haley did not until 2nd half v. Titans. In the end, it is a passing league. I have watched almost every game Ben has played, since Fr. At Miami, Ohio.  I feel like Ben has struggled this year from rushing inefficiency's impact on playcalling patterns. Not near enough passing. Ben, for years, has thrived in no-huddle and with early game commitment to passing game. Sets his rhythm. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Did you not watch the first half of the Tenn game? Did you not see no-huddle and Ben attack imemdiately from the opening drive?
11:29
He did, and youre right. They operate better that way. There's been wayyyyy too much reliance on Bell when he's averaging less than 4 yards a pop.

How does Ju Ju look? Hopefully that hamstring doesn't hurt us down the road??

He appears to be OK

Do you think Gilbert being out will affect our scheme?? Have we been giving extra help to Hubbard, I have not noticed??
Gerry Dulac
11:29
Yes they do

Jerry, another Red Zone question. Coaches often remark how the passing area compresses inside the 10. I was rewatching the KC game where we used Nix as a lead blocker successfully. What are Tomlin's and Haley's responses why we don't do it more often?  Considering how much they laud play action, one would think they would use it more. Does the use of the empty set inside the 10 puzzle you as much as the rest of us?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
It absolutely does. Never understand the logic. I get spreading the field, but not without a running back. Because now you truly become one-dimensional
OK, kids, that's all the time we have today. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
