Gerry Dulac

Uh....hmmmm.....let's see.... TURKEY!!

Gerry, If the Steelers draft a left tackle in the first round of the 2023 draft is Dan Moore capable of playing guard?  Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
9:56
I think he is, and I think there's a VERY GOOD chance they will draft a tackle with that top pick

Good morning, Gerry.  It appears that HCMT has caused Kenny Pickett to have to learn how to play the #1QB position while actually being responsible for stacking up wins. I find many problems with this scenario. Your thoughts, please!
Gerry Dulac
9:58
Me too. You're compromising what you believe in -- winning a game, no matter what -- at the expense of ddeveloping your No. 1 pick. Wrong method, wrong message to veterans. The whole season changed with his decision at halftime of the Jets game. Shame shame
Joe
9:58
I’ve been disappointed in Pickett so far. He looked a lot more accurate and with better decision making in the preseason and against the Jets. However, even those he’s a rookie and will make mistakes, he also doesn’t make special plays that make you think he can become a very good starting QB. Do you think Tomlin shares this view even though he would never say it publicly?
Gerry Dulac
10:00
I don't believe he shares your view, but there is no question that you can't watch the film and think the good outweighs the bad. I'm not picking on Pickett, I believe he will be a good quarterback, but he's not now because he's a rookie who's still learning. There is nothing wrong with sitting him down and letting him learn by watching, you know.

Do you think the defense is giving their all when supporting the offense and Pickette.  Players just don,t seem to care.
Gerry Dulac
10:01
I don't believe that's the case at all. The players play for themselves, if not else. Contracts, you know.

Is William Jackson III a shut down corner or something similar to what we have now? Also isn't it unusual to get a hurt player, especially one with a back injury?
Gerry Dulac
10:02
Similar to what they have. That's the problem with the Steelers -- they don't have a shut down corner, a guy who can take away a Tee Higgins. That's where they miss Joe Haden. I'd say go get one high in the draft but their history of drafting and evaluating corners is not very good.

I don’t imagine 90 to be a player that needs bulletin board material to get motivated, but if he were, just how much fuel do you think La’el Collins’ postgame comments would add to his fire?
Gerry Dulac
10:03
I didn't see what Collins said, but I do know this -- he did a really good job against Watt. That's why they signed Collins in free agency -- to be able to deal with Watt

Good Morning Gerry, If you were GM, would you trade your 1st rounder for multiple picks if offered?
Gerry Dulac
10:04
Nope. They need quality players, a stud, and you only find them in the top portion of the draft, usually only in the top 5 picks. They might have one of those picks.
Ryan
10:04
Kenny has played a handful of games and there already people ready to write him off as a bust despite him having a weak left side of the O Line and a lame duck coordinator, why is that?
Gerry Dulac
10:06
He is not a bust, he's a rookie who is going to make mistakes. He is going to feel as though the game is moving way too fast. Eventually, it will slow down for him by next year. Did you see how calm and relaxed Joe Burrow looked in the pocket, despite the pressure around him? That's what happens when the game slows down. It will for Pickett, just not right now. Meantime, Mike Tomlin is sacrificing winning games at the expense of letting his No. 1 pick develop.

Do you see Larry O. in a Steelers uniform next season?
Gerry Dulac
10:07
You can only hope. But I do, depending on his health.

10:07
Gerry, what do you think about the Bengals player who said that they knew what the Steelers would call in the 2nd half because the OC likes to call the sames plays over and over.  I believe it, but HCMT said that they are "fibbing". Your thoughts.
Gerry Dulac
10:08
He didn't say they were fibbing, in fact, he didn't deny it. He just said you only hear those things when a team has success and you don't hear those things when they don't.
Ken
10:08
Gerry, do you think that Kenny is our future franchise QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:08
As of right now, I believe they believe he is.
Bill
10:08
Who do you think will be the Steelers QB2 back up to Pickett next season?
Gerry Dulac
10:10
Whoever it is, it won't be any of the guys they have now. Mason Rudolph is a UFA after the season and he won't re-sign here after the way he was treated this year. And why would Mitch Trubisky, who has another year on his contract, want to stay after the way he was treated after just 3 1/2 games?? I'm certain he will ask to be traded.

Hi Gerry, I thought I saw Kenny display an adequate NFL arm on Sunday that I was not sure he had. The pass that Pickens dropped was particularly impressive. I was curious if the lack of deep throws called this season has anything to do with the staff's concern about his arm talent?
Gerry Dulac
10:11
Adequate is a good description, but not strong. That was never the opinion of just about NFL scout. In fact, if you watch, he has to really step into a throw when he needs to gun it. When that happens, accuracy gets sacrificed. He is a very good touch and timing passer, tho
Jones
10:11
What's with the all the commentary on Pickett's "lack of arm strength" he launched that beauty 40+ to Pickens and he's rifled a fewpasses pretty good.

Hi Gerry-  Why did Gunner get more snaps than Sims the last game?   Looking for a.better explanation from you vs, MT on this one-  why has DJ’s production plummeted?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
He didn't. Sims (32) has one more snap than Gunner (31), but to your point, Gunner is used mostly on run plays, which is another reason why the Bengals talk about predictability when they see him in the game. As for DJ, Pickett tends not to look at him much. I don't break down the game film myself, but I was told DJ was open four to five times against the Bengals without Pickett even looking at him. And, of all the receivers, DJ gets open more than the others because of his ability to run routes and come out of breaks.
Bill
10:15
I keep seeing Najee Harris getting stone cold stopped every time there is contact. He just doesn't seem to shed tackles or even fall forward. At what point do we consider him to be JAG (just another guy) at running back?
Gerry Dulac
10:15
You say this after he just had two of his best games of the season, running through and over guys
Andrew in ATL
10:16
Do you think, assuming Jalen Carter, the DL from UGA who would be a great pick, is off the board do you see OL or CB as the more likely position to be addressed in the 1st round? Both positions have seen horrendous play this year.
Gerry Dulac
10:17
What I see is OL, DL and CB being the biggest areas of need. Actually, not a whole lot different than last year when none of those were addressed until the third round.
Bill
10:17
If Picket continues to be just average, is there any chance we'd get to see a start from Mason Rudolph, the guy who won the phony quarterback competition in preseason?
Gerry Dulac
10:19
I doubt it, but it's time for Mike Tomlin to turn over the stone that he hasn't turned over -- that is, if he wants to try something to win a game, his professed objective each and every week. And that is to try a veteran quarterback. But I doubt you're going to see Mason Rudolph unless Pickett and Trubisky get hurt.
