Are slants over the middle next?  Like catch n run.  But not backwards

Next you're going to want TD throws

Good morning. Regarding DJ's catch in end zone, Coach Tomlin indicated he did not clearly see DJ's feet; stadium scoreboard did not show replay; and asst upstairs did not see replay soon enough. Is there difficulty for visiting teams to get needed info to challenge questionable calls? Perhaps part of home field advantage. Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Sure. Maybe not intentional, but it happens.

Was Tomlin's "Dionte has to answer for that himself" a foreshadow he's no longer protecting his player?
Gerry Dulac
10:32
What he's saying is he needs to apologize to his teammates first. They are the ones who "protect" him. Then it's up to Tomlin to decide what he wants to do, if anything, to further administer some punishment.

Hi Gerry, any chance Diontae could get benched for his actions in the Bengals game?
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I doubt that, but there should be some punishment. And maybe there will be and we won't know it.

When I listen to the weekly Tomlin press conference, it seems like he tries hard to use lingo to relate to his players instead of talking like a man of his age.  Is this a way to make the players want to be friends with him?  Has that led to him letting his players get away with lack of discipline and accountability?
Gerry Dulac
10:36
I don't think there is any correlation with how he speaks with any perceived lack of discipline or accountability.

Some of the PG staff were pretty dismissive of early reports that Faulkner would be OC with Sullivan calling plays. Were you guys being told something different from your sources or what gives?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
Don't know who was being dismissive.

In your ever so humble opinion, is JPJ playing better than any Steelers secondary rookie you can remember (especially considering how rarely rookies get the nod in Pittsburgh)?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Easy question -- yes. You're last point was well administered

Hi Gerry  Thanks for the chats.  One of the most interesting things to see in the Bengals game was how the Steelers now had their WR run beyond the line to gain on 3rd and middle distance.  With Canada they did that nonsense of bubble screens and too short passes hoping the WR would bust over the line.  That is how they led the league in 3 and outs.

Good point, even though there was no question.

Several sources local AND national reporters continue to insist it was MTs decision to terminate Matt Canada. Do you continue to stand by the fact that it was ARII’s decision and not Mike Tomlin? Yes or no (please not the usual snark deflection).

I'm not interested what other people say, especially when they don't know.

Gerry, thanks for the chats. Always wanted to ask you this question. Steelers have paid the defensive side of the ball for a while now that's how they like to be built. However, under new GM with a possible different philosophy, could you see steelers move towards a more high flying offense like when we had the killer Bs. Seems like you have to be a high scoring team to go deep in to the playoffs now in the nfl. Plus if you give up an avg of 45 points in playoff games you kinda need to be built to score high. What do you think?
Gerry Dulac
10:41
I like the 45-points per playoff game point, which is true. But, hey, you can't have everything. That was an exceptional offense with the Killer B's, and they don't come along that often. But that was also under Bruce Arians and then Todd Haley, and that was their style.

Hi Gerry, what are your thoughts that maybe Canada's plays work and because he's not an NFL play caller, he didn't know how to sequence them or how to adapt to what the defense was doing?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
10:42
I think it was apparent they didn't work very well.

People are claiming that MT isn’t holding Johnson accountable. He called him out yesterday, said he had to answer to his teammates, and we have no idea what was said behind the scenes. What more do people want from him?

Good Morning Gerry, The offense looked good, but it still only managed 16 points against one of the worst defenses in the NFL.  16 points was par with Canada. If this continues, how do they not choose to go outside the organization for a new OC?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
Let's see what happens. They still may go outside either way.

Gerry, #38 walker is playing pretty well right now as a backup MLB. He jumps a little higher and probably has an INT not a deflected catch for a big gain (overall didn't mean much). Do you think newly signed Martinez starts over him due to experience. I want to see Walker keep playing, what say you?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
I think they will keep going the way they are going.

Gerry, Is Diontae Johnson a hostage or a volunteer?
Gerry Dulac

I'm still trying to figure it out

Gerry, should the Steelers be taking a hard look at Shaq Leonard? Do you know the nature of his back injury?

No and no

Hello Gerry, I am a little puzzled as to how a "Dust up" between  MP & DJ is not reported by any of the local media and then only turns up as a story 5 days later from a national pundit. How does this happen & also, did the dust up happen at all?
Gerry Dulac
10:44
The dust up, as you call it, did occur. DJ even admitted to much, though he downplayed it the magnitude of it.

Hi Gerry, am I the only one that savored the passes between the 'hash marks'?  1st game - Canada. 424 yds!

Nope

is there a better representation of coaching matters than what we saw in the offensive turnaround on sunday?
Gerry Dulac

Probably not.
