Hi, in my last message I was saying if Johnson isn't available could we upgrade the LG spot with the NW kid instead and move Chucks to LT for the upgrade?
Gerry Dulac

Right. What I always find curious is something Kevin Colbert said last year -- that they Steelers always thought Okorafor was a better left tackle than right tackle coming out of college. i just don't see them drafting a guard that high. You draft a lineman that high, it's typically a tackle. An old coach friend of mine says a team needs three things -- a quarterback, cover corner and left tackle. I'm not going to answer which they have and which they don't

"Best game yet" "Finally breaking through"   ???? What exactly did Pickett do other than miss wide open receivers in the end zone and throw zero touchdowns. On replays you could see open receivers that he didn't throw to because he panicked, didn't stay in the pocket and scrambled for seed and stem yardage,WOOHOO. I can understand some fans wanting to find the grail but, Pgh. sports writers need to come down off their clouds and stop rubbing the buddha. Pickett didn't do what his multimillion-dollar salary pays him to do. Not yet anyway.

That entire diatribe comes down to your last three words -- "not yet anyway." Exactly. He's a rookie. He's going to make mistakes, miss open receivers, run from the pocket because he can't through his progressions just yet. Give the poor multi-millionaire a chance

Does Canada (and his staff) deserve any credit at all for the improved run game?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
Of course. If we're going to criticize him when it doesn't work, you have to give him some amount of props when it does.

More apt...Devin Bush is Huey Richardson or Dan Moore is Jamain Stephens?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
Haha..I like the first one
10:41
P.S. Dan Moore isn't terrible now. And you can't compare him to Jamain Stephens because Moore was a 4th rd pick and Stephens was a No. 1. No comparison

How many of those on the line currently do you think will be starting week one of 2023?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
Three, maybe 4

If the Steelers draft or FA 2-3 offensive linemen, do the Steelers cut K. Green ?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
Possibly. Depends on their depth

What year do you think C. Heyward gets on with his life's work (he's 33 currently)?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
I think he plays 2 more years. Safe bet

If the Steelers somehow manage to end the season at .500 …and preserve Tomlin’s record…will I have to listen to more talk about what a genius he is ? He’s run this franchise into the ground with poor personnel (players & coaching staff) decisions.
Gerry Dulac
10:44
Jim, not to be an annoying nit-picker, but they can't finish .500 with 17 games. So, if he is to finish above .500 (which is your point), that means the Steelers have to go 5-1 the rest of the way. I don't see that happening.

How much do you see Colbert around?  Is he still consulting or officially out?
Gerry Dulac
10:44
He comes around, but I have not been given any indication he is involved in any official discussion.

At the risk of giving Matt Canada credit, I think the 3-5 designed runs for Pickett per game have been a very underdiscussed aspect of the improved running game.  The QB keeping and running on an RPO is a huge weapon and holds backside runstoppers from aggressive pursuit.  It also hold the linebackers from dropping into coverage for an extra beat on downs like 3rd and 4.  Have you heard anything from the Steelers about making several designed QB runs per game a permanent part of the game plan?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
There's no doubt Pickett's scrambling has been a big contributor to the run game success. I'm sure those designed draws or the occasional naked bootleg will remain in the plan as long as he doesn't get injured

There are countless LTs (even high round picks) that took 2 or more years to develop (one low round one for Steelers is John Jackson who had 2 very bad first couple years and became a Pro Bowl LT) I am not saying it will happen for Dan Moore, but why so quick to give up?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
I don't disagree with you at all.
OK kids, that's all the time we have. Thanx for the questions
