Gerry all the fans that want Ben replaced must be much younger than myself. I can tell them about bag Qb play from past years that would make them cry.
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Those people have no clue
redsteeler69
11:12
Gerry tell me how many Qb's could have pulled off what Ben did in the 4th quarter, but he's no good anymore. So the experts say. The pump fake to get Johnson wide open was classic Big Ben.
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Yes it was. Those people who think that nonsense have no clue

OK so we beat the over-rated Ravens in a nail-biter.  Not to play the doubter here....but shouldn't we be cautious in our excitement?  I mean the rest of our schedule looks very challenging and we would have to nearly run the table to get a playoff spot.  Even if we did so, does this team who was drubbed 2 out of the last 3 weeks, really have a deep playoff run in them?  Wouldn't several under-performing pieces need to do a 180 in performance for that to happen?  I mean, never say never....but it still kinda feels like "never"...what say you?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
You should always be cautious with your excitement and as well as cautious with your despondency -- not just with this team but in this league. Do you know the Titans, who are 8-4, could be the only team in the league to lose to the Texans, Jaguars and Jets in the same year??

Gerry -- In line with Father-Son/Family golf event next week where Tiger is returning to action, what's the best Father-Son/Family golf combo in Western PA history? Doesn't even have to be professional?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
Grazianos. Fuhrers. Several

Not knocking at all how the Patriots won. But Mac Jones threw 3 attempts for 19 yards. Does this go in to the NFL record books for both fewest pass attempts and also fewest yards in an NFL game?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
They were the fewest pass attempts by a winning team since 1991

Gerry, do you see potentially a shake up with the Steelers coaching staff after the season. I understand that Tomlin heavily influences defensive play calling throughout the game, but it would be nice to have a coordinator that can bring the best out of this team without Tomlin having to interject. Same for the OC position. Canada is still in over his head in my opinion.
Gerry Dulac
11:20
Tomlin doesn't heavily influence the defense, he is the defense. He calls the plays. It's not a reflection on the competency of Keith Butler. Not at all. It's a reflection on the control Tomlin wants to have on defense

Has the Steelers defense taken a step forward or are the Ravens that bad offensively? Steelers offense has become serviceable I think and if the D can be as dominate as it should be I think we have a chance to make the playoffs.
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Of course it was a step forward because they had been reeling backward for 4 games. But it was just one step, one game. Doesn't mean that will continue, though they hope it does.

Gerry,................I have always been a fan of Stephon Tuitt.  His personnel problems and injuries have ruined his season.  Too bad about that.  Are the Steelers still paying him his mega buck salary this season or do the Steelers have an insurance policy for this kind of situation?  If the Steelers ARE paying this out, this has to be the biggest money heist since Bernie Madoff.
Gerry Dulac
11:22
He is getting his full salary.
Kordell
11:22
It's a whole different story if Jackson-Andrews make the 2-pt conversion.  Wide open ... Bush or Edmonds with the blown coverage?  And how does that happen after a TO?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
Of course it does. But it didn't. And that's all that matters.
Gregg from Shaler

Hi Gerry, should we kick the tires on the LB cut from the Texans, Cunningham? The rap is he was a disciplinary problem but I also read the Texans' coach has had an inordinate amount of that this year and perhaps he's not a strong leader.
Gerry Dulac
11:23
You used a word that should give you the answer -- rap

Isn't Devin Bush's injury a difficult one to rehab, maybe even a career ending one?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
No, not anymore, it's not career-ending. But it usually takes more than a year to get back to 100 percent. Guys are coming back sooner than ever nowadays, but that doesn
Oops...doesn't mean they are fully recovered.

Word from another chat had the Steelers working out specialists this week.  Can we assume that is a punter?  That would be my first choice if this is actually the case.
Gerry Dulac
11:26
They always work out people. And wouldn't you work out a punter after what you've seen?
Matthew
11:26
Gerry, how is Highsmith doing opposite Watt? I feel like he’s doing ok, but where are the sacks? I believe that was what he was known for in college.
Gerry Dulac
11:26
I agree -- he's just been OK. Not great, not terrible
V. Fontaine
11:26
I was a fan of drafting Harvin but it clearly hasn't worked out. Did they try out punters this week to legitimately replace Harvin or just to send a message to him that his punts have not been at a varsity level?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Neither. It means they are just trying to be prepared in case they have to or want to replace him

Hi Gerry, we keep hearing about parody in the NFL, which is the supposed cause for so many teams having 3 or more losses at this point.  I think the real cause is injuries and COVID, which are taking over and in reality producing a form of mediocrity in the NFL. Every team seems to be hit with an inordinate number of injuries and the situation seems to be getting worse.   Isn't it time for the NFL to address this issue  or let the league see a loss of interest as so many star players miss so many games?  Is it really good for Superbowl participants to have 4 or 5 losses?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
I agree with the reason, but what is the league going to do to prevent stars from getting hurt or getting Covid?
REID
11:30
Hi Gerry, Contrary to what many local and national talking heads say, looks like Ben can throw the deep ball pretty well but receivers have trouble catching them. CBS' Nate Burleson said at half time Ben is a "dink and dunker at this point in his career". Why does this narrative persist ?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
Because guys are ill-informed or not informed at all. That's why my Moron Club has so many menbers
REID
11:31
Hi Gerry, is it LEG lou or La GLUE  ?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Why, you introducing him at a banquet?m It's La-glue

Hey Gerry, I know Jacob Tuioti-Mariner is on the practice squad as an outside linebacker. Just wondering if he has shown any promise as a candidate to the "varsity".
Gerry Dulac
11:34
Rick, sorry, I don't study or evaluate practice-squad guys unless they jump out at me, which I hope answers your question
REID
11:34
Hi Gerry, do you think Ben would entertain playing for another team if a strong supporting cast was in place but missing the QB piece, much like Phil Rivers at Indy?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
No
Jacque Strap
11:34
Hi Gerry...I've heard some complaints like "if LeGlue was this good, why didn't the Steelers play him earlier, or at least in front of Finney. The OL needed him." Aside from training camp, I think the fact that they don't do a lot of hitting in practice makes it hard for a guy to show his improvement throughout the year and that he is ready for a larger role. No blame to the Steelers brass/coaching staff here. What say you?
