That's why coaches don't like that limited-pad rule for practices -- it makes it harder to fully evaluate players. And let's not go overboard on Leglue. It was one game. And it wasn't so much because he was terrific as much as it was he wasn't a liability

Hi Gerry, Although running game is still inconsistent it has shown, on occasion, being able to "run more effectively" and "running better situationally" which seems to have been the direction from above for a few years now. That being said, do you think the Steelers best hopes of winning going forward are still putting the ball in Ben's hands and running what he feels comfortable with?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
Of course they are. He's their best player. But he needs help from the running game. All QBs do
Seriously tho....
11:36
Does Cousins get his weak prime time performance monkey off of his back tonight?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
Is that a monkey or gorilla?

Do you think that Tomlin has earned the time that he will get from the Rooneys or do you think they should either look for someone else now or in the near future?
Gerry Dulac
11:37
No

Happy Holidays.  Just wondering your thoughts on having Dereck Watt playing a bigger role in the running game.  I think it could be more effective than the 2 tight end sets.  You?
Gerry Dulac
11:39
The bad part about all that is that when use Watt they almost NEVER line him at fullback in front of Harris. They line him on the wing, like a tight end. I think they should use him more than what they have, especially for what they are paying him. Did you know he is the second highest-paid FB in the league, based on average salary??

Gerry, If you were being forced to wager a buck who do you think will make it out of the AFC from the wreckage to get the to Bowl?
Gerry Dulac

FORCING just a buck??? Patriots

What ever happen to James Washington this year?  It’s like he is not even part of the offense, Your thoughts.
Gerry Dulac
11:40
I ask the same thing

Hi Gerry, why do Steelers always defer if they win the coin toss? Seems like the logical thing to do would be to always take the ball first and maybe "steal" an extra possession in the first half. Granted, opponent can do the same in the second half but you're still even, at worst. At best, you could end up with an extra possession.
Gerry Dulac
11:41
They, like most teams (and it sometimes depend on the opponent and if you're home/away), prefer getting the ball to start the second half -- either to continue momentum if they're winning or gain some new momentum if they're trailing

Hello Gerry! Congratulations for your chats and being the best Steeler insider! What are your thoughts on the WR Coach and the WR corps? seems like some of them regressed  this year. Is this coach related, talent related?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
Has nothing to do with coaching. It's all about talent. Losing JuJu did not help. And James Washington is mostly an inconsistent non-factor after 4 years. So it's not exactly a deep talented crew. Actually, this idea the Steelers have one of the best receiving corps in the league is mostly over-rated

Hi Gerry, No doubt there will be countless questions asked in this chat regarding Tuitt.  Has anyone interviewed Tuitt directly?
Gerry Dulac
11:43
Nope

Does Leglue start tonight and going forward?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
Only if there are injuries

Do you see the offensive line continuing to improve or was Ravens game a one week anomaly?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
We will find out more tonight
Mercury
11:44
Do you expect a post-Ravens letdown, especially with the short week?
Gerry Dulac
11:45
There won't be a Ravens letdown, not at all. Maybe there's a Ravens inspiration.
Salvador
11:45
Is this new NT the short term solution vs run game? There was an evident difference from the last 4 games to the ravens one
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Yes, but it was one game. Let's wait and see.

Gerry -Ravens win a catalyst for improved play and a run at the AFC North title,
Gerry Dulac
11:45
Only if they win tonight.

Got a kick out of you almost appologizing last week for veing a grumpy old guy.  Why now after all these years?

What is the game plan tonight? Run early to establish possession and control the clock? Or do they go no huddle and open things up right away? If I were the Vikings, I would stuff the box and make Ben beat me.
Gerry Dulac
11:46
If I were the Vikings, I'd do the opposite
Mercury
11:46
Will John Leglue be the Steelers’ John Nogowski?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
You better explain to people who is John Nogowski

Gerry -
What says you: Ravens win a precursor to better things to come and a run at the AFC North title, or their last stand and a precursor to yet another late season meltdown?
Gerry Dulac
11:47
You know what I say OTB -- time will tell. It's the universal applicable answer for ANY question known to mankind.
TJ
11:48
Being Optimistic- if we get a win in Minnesotta and continued Contributions from Leglu, Adams, and Witherspoon can we make the playoffs? I know we are down a few players most of the season but we do seem to be getting closer to full strength. Haden, Spillane, and Davis should be back soon
Gerry Dulac

Lots of team have injuries. The Steelers are no different than anyone else. Vikings game is big for any number of reasons.

People criticize Tomlin, but I consider it a minor miracle that this team is still in the playoff hunt considering it features an OL made up mostly of rookies and first-year starters, an over-the-hill QB, and a defense ravaged by injuries. I'd say this season just reinforces that Tomlin is a very good coach. What do you think?
