Ok kids, let's get our chat started. I will await your directives....

Gerry, tomlins reasoning for not calling a timeout made absolutely no sense. Could’ve saved our offense about a min. There’s no defending that. His clock management alone shouldn’t bring him back next year
Gerry Dulac
10:58
A lot of them never do, mainly because he never wants to tip his hand. So he offers some explanation that doesn't always make sense. Just like his explanation after the game why he didn't put Ben in earlier. Two days later, after being chastised widely for his reasoning, he clarified the entire thing.

Prediction for Sunday?
Gerry Dulac

You'll have to wait for that

Gerry - Is there something amiss in the way the Steelers evaluate and grade defensive draft picks?  They have missed terribly on a number of them over the past several years and they have drastically different grades on players than others....which has led to reaches and misses.  Changing coaches doesn't clean up this mess...

Since Mike Tomlin became coach in 2007, the Steelers have drafted 14 cornerbacks. Only one of them -- William Gay, the first CB he ever drafted -- has received a second contract. And, based on the way Artie Burns is performing, that number has a good chance of remaining intact.

I appear to have taken on the proverbial “deer in the headlights” countenance. Please remind your chatters that BC missed the playoffs three years in a row. Gracias.
Gerry Dulac
11:04
Yes, Bill Cowher missed the playoffs in 1998, '99 and 2000

What does the future hold for Mike Tomlin?  If the Steelers miss the play-offs this year, will he have one more season as headcoach?  Do you think he'll make significant changes with his coordinators?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I do not see the Steelers getting rid of Mike Tomlin. But I do see them asking to make some changes in the staff, should they miss the playoffs. After all, they fired coordinators who were doing a good job in winning seasons.

Is this the worst Steelers defense you ever seen?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
Not by a long shot. I hate to tell you this, but they are not THAT bad.
Brian
11:06
Gerry, do you think the Steelers will consider going for 2 after every touchdown as they used to 3-4 years ago? A possible way to limit Boswell attempts while he works out of his funk.
Gerry Dulac
11:07
For that reason, I wouldn't be surprised. But, all that does, of course, is further erode whatever confidence Boswell still has in himself

Hi Gerry, Suprised Ham didn’t attend alumni weekend.. any know reason? .. Ward for that matter to.. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:09
I do not believe there is any animosity at all on Ham's part. With Hines, maybe he's upset he didn't get the WR coaching position this year after Richard Mann retired

Why does Tomlin continually defer When he wins the coin toss and results in the pathetic defense being on the field first? Seems it puts us in an in an immediate hole most of the time
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I'm sorry, I think it's a good move. Have you paid attention to how the Steelers have scored a TD at the end of the first half in 8 of the 13 games? That then gives them a chance to add another at the start of the third quarter. Plus, he doesn't ALWAYS do it. Depends how they are playing and where

11:12
Gerry, how do you think Mike Tomlin would react to a similar ultimatum from upper management (at the end of the season) that was presented to Chuck Noll after the 1991 season?
Gerry Dulac
11:12
Depends if he agreed with it

Gerry, the NFL is crazy.  First we stink, then were looking at a bye for the playoffs, now were on the fence to even make the playoffs!  I think this team has been overrated from the get go.  Remove #7 from the lineup, I don't know if we win any games.  What say you?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
They wouldn't win many, that's for sure. That was vividly apparent in Oakland

Lets move past the last few weeks and focus on the game this week - what is the tone around the locker room?  Boswell still there?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Tone is the same every week -- win or lose. That's one of the reasons for their success year after year

Do you think poor conditioning had any affect on the defense's pitiful fourth quarter performances? Are coaches allowed to "whip 'em into shape" anymore?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
No. And no.

11:15
Hey Gerry. Are there year to year stats regarding IR injuries? It seems there has been an abundance of injuries across the league (except with Pittsburgh...oh the irony.) I was just wondering if that info is available.
Gerry Dulac
11:16
I don't know if they compile them year to year. I'm sure the NFL medical people probably have something like that. I'm not sure if injuries are on the rise or it's just another typical NFL season.

Hi Gerry, Keep hearing Matakavich doesn’t have the speed to play.. but continuously see Vince who has speed not know who to cover.. sooner or later = Try something different.. Thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
Uhhhh, you sure you watching the right guy???

The offense of line is catching a lot of flak this week for the poor rushing performance. But Samuels was extremely slow hitting the hole. Do you think it’s fair criticism ?
Gerry Dulac
11:17
It's the first time in a long time they didn't play well against one of the worst rush defense in the league. But they had only three pressures on Ben and only three on Dobbs, so the protection all in all was very good. Except for that big sack on third down when Ben got hurt

11:20
You think we make the playoffs?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
yes
Bob
11:21
Will Boswell be the kicker Sunday if you had to guess
Gerry Dulac
11:21
Yep
Lambert Lunatic
11:21
Hey Gerry! Let’s say Grimble doesn’t fumble at the goal line in Denver, officials give us ONE of those bad calls on a Chargers’ TD, and Ben doesn’t get sacked to play the whole 2nd half Sunday, then we are likely 10-2-1.  With a different outcome on those 3 plays, Steelers would be a serious SB contender heading into NE and NO instead of a team in turmoil.  Funny how this scenario would overshadow all of our other issues.  So my actual question is, would this change YOUR perspective or predictions the next 2 weeks?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
It only does because it's New England and they have to prove they can beat them w Tom Brady, either here or there. To your point, the last 4 games have been decided on the final play. The Steelers easily could be 10-2-1 and being talked about as the most dangerous and best team in the NFL. Or they could be 6-6-1 and out of first place in the division. That's how close the difference is. But, I do acknowledge that good teams win those games, at least 3 of the 4, instead of losing 3 of the 4.

In your opinion should the steelers fire coach Tomlin next year?
