Do you think the Steelers miss Martavis Bryant in the passing game? Seems like there is no one stretching the secondary for AB to have a lot of room on his underneath routes and runs after catch
Gerry Dulac

Nope

"A lot of them never do, mainly because he never wants to tip his hand. So he offers some explanation that doesn't always make sense. Just like his explanation after the game why he didn't put Ben in earlier. Two days later, after being chastised widely for his reasoning, he clarified the entire thing..."  THAT doesn't make sense either.

Goes right with the question.

Although it is easy to blame Tomlin, Boswell et al, how does Colbert get off so easy? Considering his FA signings the past two years (Green Bostic and Burkett) and his failure to have an adequate, backup running back, his job should be in jeopardy too!

Yeah, let's fire them all.

Gerry,  what do you make of Dobbs arm strength.  It looked like a couple of the passes that were batted down were slow to get to the receiver
Gerry Dulac
11:23
I think it is perfectly fine, NFL-caliber

Do you remember if Steelers fans had this type of animosity toward Cowher during his losing seasons '98-'00,03 or Noll's '69-'71, '85-'86, '88, '91?  Tomlin hasn't had a losing season yet and these trigger happy fans want him burned in effigy.
Gerry Dulac
11:26
I think the animosity directed at Tomlin is because people believe the Steelers have too much talent and see the window closing with Ben to not get back to the Super Bowl. But, without really remembering, I can promise you that fans being fans, they were on Cowher, too, though not like this.

Hi Gerry,  Happy Holidays,  what is going on inside the locker room?  last 3 losses have been torture.  We are not that bad and can't understand why we lose to inferior teams.  What is your take?   Boswell come onnnnnn, you've been so clutch and this year he has contributed to a couple of losses.
Gerry Dulac
11:28
I have always believed that your record says what you are. You're right, they are not that bad. In most instances than not, they have shown they can beat anyone in the league. But they have not been always able to win games when they've had the chance. They did last year. They were 8-2 in one-score games in 2017. This year they are 4-4-1.

It is certainly problematic that the same issues repeatedly plague the team, poor defense, clock management and use of challenges. However, all those calling for HC change should look no further than the local college, which parted ways with successful coaches who didn't win championships (Wannstedt and Dixon) with catastrophic results. Not saying that would happen to Steelers, but it raises the question who is available that could do better?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
It is the rarest of circumstances, despite what people think, that poor clock management and use of challenges ever directly cost a team a game, let alone been the blame for a losing season. I don't think you have to worry about having to find a new coach, unless this thing completely falls apart...and I just don't see that happening.

Although it is easy to say "Fire Tomlin," have those same people ever questioned how difficult it would be to find another coach as successful?

Unpopular Opinion:  There was nothing wrong with Tomlin's clock management at the end of the game.  People complaining about that don't understand the difficulty of going down the field quickly with between the hash marks out of play.  Hook and ladder on the sideline had 0 chance without that timeout.

What are is your evaluation of Dobbs at QB?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
Are you asking because he did not play so well in Oakland? Or did you have this question ready to go and forgot to send after he completed that 22-yard pass in Baltimore?

Are you of the thought that Tomlin and/or Butler needs to be replaced?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I am not. I am of the thought they need to do something about finding inside linebackers who can run and cover, something they had a whole year to address and, as it turns out, haven't. The NFL game is played with speed and passes and RPOs. You better have inside guys who can run. They don't.

Should ARII tell Tomlin after the season he has to hire /appoint someone to be in charge/advise on time management and challenges?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
I think they should have someone upstairs in charge of replay reviews and not leave that to the assistant coaches.

Le’Veon Bell is the best running back in the NFL. Big Ben, AB, JuJu 2 of the top receivers, O-line tops as well.  LB could be the 3rd best receiver/running back. As Pouncey said last year “pay the man.”  Ben’s time for winning a SB is waning. I doubt the Steelers don’t have the money, so why not sign him and move on knowing he’s locked up for long term?
Gerry Dulac
11:36
They wanted to. He didn't like their offer. He wanted more money. He made that choice. I haven't seen any Super Bowl appearances since LB arrived. But I've seen plenty before him and there will be more after him. Let's see how he does somewhere else
11:37
OK, kids, we're out of time. Thanx for the questions.
11:38
Sorry I couldn't answer them all. If I did, we'd be here till kickoff. Thanx for the interest.
