That was why Rudolph didn't want to return to the Steelers -- he was never given a shot during what was claimed to be an open QB competition in 2022 training camp. But he is not being punished for the Myles Garrett situation. That has nothing to do with it.

Good Morning Gerry, Three things most Steeler fans agree on: (1) this is MT's team, (2) it hasn't been elite for many many moons and  (3) the most current version continues an unsuccessful four year struggle to fix QB, DL, and OL. In my opinion giving MT one more year would simply add one more year to the things stated. Am I wrong?

Not really.

Gerry, Noll retired rather than fire Joe Walton.  If Steeler brass insists on similar wholesale offensive changes, and they should, what reaction might Tomlin have?

That wasn't why Noll retired.

Gerry - thanks for the chat. It is really frustrating to watch other quarterbacks have success in the league that appeared to be an after thought (e.g. Flacco and Browning). It makes me question whether the Steelers are capable of developing a QB post Ben. Is this a reflection of Tomlin or the residual impact of Canada’s system? Or both? Or maybe we can’t identify the right talent?

I don't think you can compare a veteran Super Bowl MVP quarterback such as Flacco with a QB like Browning who has made three starts. I think it's a by-product of the offense you have been watching, even in ben's last year. The only time -- the only time!! -- the offense flourished is when Ben turned off his audio helmet and called his own plays.
OK kids, that's all the time we have. Let's do it again next week
