Ok kids, we will start our chat at 11 so get those questions ready, if you haven't already.....
11:01
Ok, lets get started....Go!!

Will the Steelers win 8 games? I got $20 on the over of 7.5 games.
Gerry Dulac
11:01
At this point, that's going to be tough. 3-1 in the last 4 games? Based on what you have watched? Uh...well.....
MTScott
11:02
I like MT, but what was he “bleeping” smoking to think this defense was going to be dominating?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
I'm not sure because I was never buying into it.
MTScott
11:02
Is it now time to let someone like Mark Robinson get some development time?  Can’t be any worse than the current “bleeping” ILBs.
Gerry Dulac
11:03
He is a perfect example of a player who would merits a late-season look, without question. They like what they see of him. He just doesn't know what he's supposed to be doing in the defense yet.
Andrew from Johnstown

Good morning Gerry! At what point do you think Tomlin and the organization start to think about shutting down players like T.J for the season? I know they're technically still in the hunt for the 7th spot, but it seems like a long shot now. Thanks.

Good morning Gerry. I hope for all our sakes we don't have to watch Bush and Jack play inside linebacker next year. On the long app. 54 yard run after the short punt both inside linebackers were blown off the play by one blocker each. Bush was really taken out. Will either one be around next year. Your thoughts?
Gerry Dulac
11:08
What has happened to all that "we need to sign Myles Jack" rhetoric from the offseason?? The Steelers did not pick up the fifth-year option on Bush for a reason, some of which you just pointed up. The only way they re-sign him is if it's the same situation as Terrell Edmunds -- he's sitting out there in free agency for a long time and the Steelers haven't found a suitable body to replace him.

With a need for youth infusion.. Who returns on the D-line next season.. 97, 92, 98?.. Do you see 99 returning? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:10
The three you mentioned for sure. As for Larry Ogunjobi (99), he's a free agent after the season and I doubt they will re-sign him for the same one-year, $8 million deal he received this year. But I don't have a problem if they bring him back.

11:10
Do you see 44 returning on a lesser contract? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I think his days sharing the locker room with his brother are coming to a close.

There's no way the brings Mitch back next year on his current contract right?
Gerry Dulac
11:13
There's no way Mitch would want to come back after the way he's been treated. He's due $8 million in salary next season, which the Steelers will save if they cut him or trade him. I think both sides would be fine with a parting.

The Run defense was on its way up, why do you think it has done a total 180?
Gerry Dulac
11:16
Because the road on the way up was littered with teams who don't run the ball very well, like Tampa Bay, Miami, Jets, Colts, Saints. The 180 you talk about has come after recently playing teams like the Ravens, Falcons, and Eagles, three of the top 4 rushing teams in the league.
Paul from Beaver Falls
11:17
Why not let Mason start the rest of the season?  Put Kenny on IR for concussions for the rest of the year.  Mitch is Mitch not much else to say there other than Mitch doesn’t have the makings of a VARSITY player.  If the Steelers are serious about winning give Mason a chance.  It might be better in the long run to tank for a better draft pick.
Gerry Dulac
11:19
Your reasonings are flawed all the way around. First off, why would they put Pickett on IR for the rest of the season because of concussions? If he is cleared to play, he will play and will want to play. And, if they thought Rudolph gave them the best chance to win, why did they sign Trubisky in the first place?
Paul from Beaver Falls
11:19
Why can’t the Steelers run a wildcat offense with Gentry as QB?  He could fall down and get at least 3 yards.  I think short yardage at the goal line would be unstoppable.

11:19
If they sign a starter in FA for the OL or DL do they use the first pick on whichever they didn't sign? OL v DL?
Gerry Dulac
11:21
They need to rebuild both lines with youth, and not with third- and fourth-round picks. They already signed two starters on the offensive line and one on the defensive line in free agency. It's time -- it's been time -- to go find another Pouncey, another DeCastro, another Heyward, another Tuitt. Don't waste it on what they been taking the past couple years.
Tim from Tyrone

Hi Gerry. I have never had any MAJOR issues with Coach Tomlin through the years. Yesterdays presser was hard to watch at least for me. I had a hard time following him on some answers. Sometimes when he might have a yes or no answer he might go on for 5 minutes. He seems frustrated for sure. Your thoughts.
Gerry Dulac
11:22
It's not frustration, it's the realization that all has gone bad and not worked out the way he had envisioned.

11:22
Who is leader of the OL room? And who has been their best OL-
Gerry Dulac
11:23
Offensive leader? Both are retired. As for their best OL, I think the right side of the line, starting with Cole at center, has been pretty good.

Hello . Thank you as always for the chat . Anyone  who says that if you take out the interceptions , Trubisky was good , reminds me of the guy who fell from 30th floor and when someone asked him from 10th floor how he was , he said so far so good . If Tomlin has a shred of fairness in him , he should let Mason start . He has been such a good soldier for 5 years and never slept in a meeting , pouted on sideline or just plain left the team . Not to mention ,  he was a winner of sham preseason competition. What do you think ?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
Well, I will say this -- I disagree with your total assessment of Trubisky, though I get your point about the interceptions. If you didn't see the way the offense made plays down the field, and the way he brought the the team back after those mistakes, then you are watching solely from one perspective, and I can guess what that is. If you think all that matters is the interceptions, then Kenny Pickett should have been sat right back down after he threw three interceptions in one half against the Jets and cost them the game. All that being said, I'd love to see Rudolph get to play, but I don't think it will have anything to do with fairness, nor should it. After all, what has been fair about the way the quarterbacks have been treated this season??
Lenny from NY
11:29
Good morning Gerry. Last week one of the reasons Pickens didn’t get enough looks was he was only in on 67% of the offensive plays. Makes no sense to me that your best weapon is sitting out that much. Is that on MT or Canada?  Bad coaching by whoever it is. Time to get rid of them both. Start with new coaching crew. Thanks. Merry Christmas
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Your presumption, Lenny, is he is the Steelers' best weapon. Obviously, they don't share your assessment. I was told a long time ago by one of their offensive coordinators that just because you might go into the game wanting to target a certain receiver doesn't mean that is going to happen. Keep in mind other factors, as well, like, is a rookie receiver running the right route or in the right spot? That is very possible, you know.

11:33
Gerry do you think Danny Smith is on any kind of hot seat?
Gerry Dulac
11:35
I am not going to defend the play of the special teams, but sometimes it can be difficult to build effective coverage and return teams because the players who typically play on those units change from year to year.

Hi Gerry! What is Brian Flores bringing to this coaching staff? Opinion: if his primary responsibility is coaching inside linebackers, I don’t think he’s doing a very good job.
Gerry Dulac
11:35
Yes, his primary responsibility is coaching the inside LBs.

What’s the point in TJ Watt playing another game this season?
Gerry Dulac

And what's the harm??
