I think adjustments are made every year, and usually because of injuries. Don't think it's anything appreciably different.
HOF Question

If Philip Rivers were to come out of retirement - LOL - how would that affect his eligibility timeline for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, given the five-year waiting period required after retirement? Specifically, would the clock reset from his most recent season, and are there any exceptions or precedents that could impact his induction timeline? Thanks Gerry
Gerry Dulac
10:50
The five-year clock was re-set for him the moment he was added to the 53-man roster

Any word on how close Elliott is to returning or is he likely done for the year?
Gerry Dulac
10:50
I believe he is done

Morning Gerry, I have a tiebreaker question. I'm seeing ravens have the tie breaker in common games however if they're using the 4 against the AFC east, even if Balt beats New England they both would be 3-1, therefore goes to afc conference games which Steelers lead? Does this sound correct?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
It does, but the only thing that will matter is head-to-head, and right now the Steelers have that. The Ravens have the advantage, right now, in the other potential tiebreakers. That all can change

Good morning Gerry and thanks for the chats.  Any updates on TJ for this week?  Any idea whether the person who did the dry needling is a Steelers employee or someone hired by TJ?
Gerry Dulac
10:53
It wasn't someone hired by TJ, not if it occurred in the Steelers facility. Outside doctors or trainers are not allowed to perform in the facility. And, as I said the other day, TJ will be back sooner than later.

Hi Gerry, we many outsiders have long seen WR2 as a hole in the Steelers offense.  I don't want to overreact to 1 TD but do you think that MVS and Thielen are enough of an upgrade to boost the offense down the stretch?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
I think they will be a boost. How much, well, I'll give it a couple more games to see how they're used. Good start, but, then, so was Mike Williams.

Gerry - what are your thoughts on Roman Wilson and his being inactive the past couple of games?  Does it mean his time with the Steelers is coming to an end?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
No, but it means he better improve on whatever is holding him back in the coaches' eyes.

If the Steelers Ravens game on January 4 is winner to the playoffs, who would you rather have as your starter, for this one game: Lamar Jackson or Aaron Rodgers?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
I'm a big Lamar Jackson fan. Most unstoppable player in the league when he's healthy. But I'll take the old guy

Good Mornin Gerry. Thanks for the chats. I can't always be here, but I read em all.  Any update on TJ and how he's feeling?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
TJ is doing fine and will be back very soon

Hi Gerry, these chats etc. have often revealed the opinions of people who think the Rooney's are cheap and don't know how to run a franchise.  Can I offer the Bengals as a sharp rebuttal to this opinion?
Gerry Dulac
10:56
I wouldn't call the Rooneys cheap if you look at the dollar signs around that defense

Will we see a DL rotation where Black plays run situations and Benton comes in on pass downs? Or do they go with both on early downs using a four man DL with Heyward and Harmon?
Gerry Dulac
10:58
Their use of a four-man line with four D-lineman (not Watt, Highsmith or Herbig) is very rare. Don't think you will see that as a viable option

There seems to be quite a bit of speculation that Rodgers took over the play calling duties in the second half. Is there any evidence supporting that?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
The OC is still calling the plays, but, as you see, Rodgers has a lot of options within the call to change things at the line of scrimmage. He does it all game, not just the second half. Very few QBs, if any playing today, have the ability to do that.

I don't get the fascination with Washington other than his size. Wouldn't a more mobile tight end have been better for blocking on the two goal line runs where he didn't even make it to the defender?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
Uh....no

Mornin Gerry, and thanks for the chats. Are we just going to use Thielen/Valdez-Scantling as a blockers predominately or will they be running more routes in the next few weeks? How much do you believe their snaps will affect the usage of Austin/Wilson/Benny Sko? Is Rodgers not comfortable with them yet? Lastly, since they are best friends, should I assume Lazard will be signed when he clears waivers, or do you expect the ravens [not capitalized intentionally] to pick him up to as a preventative move on their part? Would love to know your thoughts? Thanks Tommy

I wouldn't worry about how those other guys are being used and would focus more on how they new guys might affect their ability to throw downfield. That's why they are there, after all. Give it time, It's only been 2 games
And that's all the time we have today. Thanx for the questions.
