OK, kids, we will start in about 10 minutes so get those questions ready.....

Hello Gerry! Hey, when was the last time Steelers made the playoffs when they needed help and/or more results combinations?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
I'm not sure this is the last time, but in 1977 the Steelers needed the Houston Oilers to beat the Bengals for them to win the division, no matter what happened in their game against the San Diego Chargers. The Oilers did and the Steelers sent briefcases to members of the Oilers as thanks.

Since NYJ has already paid his signing bonus and both sides want out of the marriage, do you trade your No. 2 for LBell?
Gerry Dulac
10:54
No.

It’s great that Bud seems to be finally playing up to his potential and is no longer a bust. But, in today’s NFL you can’t really wait 5 years for a no. 1 pick to play well. So, at this point, what grade would you give that pick?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
Right now, you would give it an A-minus. Before this year, a C at best

Considering Ben is 38 yrs old and recovering from serious elbow surgery, shouldn’t the Steelers make it a priority to upgrade the back-up QB position?  If so, do you see cap space preventing Steelers from doing so?
Gerry Dulac
10:55
I think Mason Rudolph is a fine No. 2 quarterback. Give him time.
AA
10:56
Do you think the Steelers will draft a QB late or keep Hodges as the 3rd QB?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Right now I think they will keep him as the No. 3 guy. I think Sunday's game could have a huge impact on that, though.

Hi Gerry Hooe your xmas was great. Tomlin said they're not real comfortable with Lynch, do you think that gives Duck a longer leash than he had against the Jets?
Gerry Dulac
10:57
Yes. I don't think they have a leash on him. They will sink or swim with Duck (pun intended).

If Dupree leaves, which I think is likely, does that make OLB their #1 need?
Gerry Dulac
10:59
That's why I think it's unlikely they let him leave. Creates too many unfavorable possibilities for them, not to mention disrupting what has become one of the best defenses in the league ...and at a very important position.

Is it just me or does today's NFL seem softer than ever? You just don't see players toughing through injuries anymore. Guess I have been spoiled watching #7 play through just about every injury possible.
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I think big contracts and agents have changed all that. It's not just you.

Mason through the Rams game was like 10 TDS and 4 ints with a good passing rating. Ben’s had games at Cleveland.  They might have won last week if he doesn’t get hurt. Why are people so down on his career going forward?
Gerry Dulac
11:00
I'm not sure. Patience is not thy virtue.

How would you rate the Steelers’ offseason needs?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
RB, TE, DL
Doug from Raleigh

Next year Ben might return and be as good, or better, than ever.  Mason Rudolph will study, work out and find his mojo.  Or neither will happen.  Don't the Steelers have to procure a tested, reliable Charlie Batch-type QB as a backup, so as not to waste what has become a really good defense?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
I wouldn't rule out that possibility.

Is Hard Knocks a requirement or option.?  Can we refuse ?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
Yes they can

Harsh as it sounds,  do the Steelers cut bait with Tuitt, who unfortunately misses a lot of time because of or plays ineffectively with injuries?  Put the money into a Bud contract?
Gerry Dulac
11:01
No.

In the earlier games, the Duck seemed relaxed and having fun.  The past two, seemed liked he started each game with a more serious approach.  Did the reality and pressures of being a starting QB finally sync in and it showed on the field in the last two games?
Gerry Dulac
11:02
That, of course, is a possibility and something only Duck would know. I will tell you I didn't notice a difference in him, but I'm not in the huddle.

Happy holidays Gerry to you & yours! In your thoughts, does Big Ben make a big comeback next season? I'm rooting hard for him!
Gerry Dulac
11:03
He will be back, determined as ever. He is that, for sure.

Hi Gerry, thanks for the chat. What do you think the long-term solution is at QB for the Steelers? Obviously they have no No. 1 pick this year. If Ben comes back healthy they hopefully will be drafting late in the rounds for the next couple of years. Is it Mason or bust?
Gerry Dulac
11:04
I think Mason showed them a lot in his short time back last week in New York. Other than the Browns game and the subsequent carryover of the Myles Garrett incident, Rudolph played well enough to show he can be a proven backup QB.

The thinking earlier the season was sign JuJu, and that we probably can't afford to sign Bud.  Has that thinking changed?  Sign Bud to solidify the defense, now the strength and identity of this team, and if we can't sign JuJu, let him go and draft another WR?  Seems like DJ and JW are showing signs of being solid receivers, and DJ is a legit returner as well.  Hate to see the this young and powerful LB group breakup before they even peak.
Gerry Dulac
11:06
I don't think that was the thinking at all, perhaps outside the organization. I don't think the question of signing JuJu when the time comes will be a question at all. They will deal with Bud independent of any of that.

Do you think they ride with Mason and Duck as the backups again next year or do you think they sign a vet backup?
Gerry Dulac
11:06
You mean like Paxton Lynch?
Stephanie

Hi Gerry...it seems nfl quarterbacks  can point out who is blitzing on any given play.   If a linebacker knows he has been pointed out,  does he continue to blitz or is there another player that can blitz by default?
Gerry Dulac
11:07
Depends if the defense decides to change its call when the offense picks up their front.

Gerry, after that miserable loss at New York last week, what is your opinion to this statement: The Steelers deserve to be in the playoffs? Yes or no.
