Gerry, does TJ still have a chance at defense player of year even though he's missed significant time and he's the best player on a terrible defense vs being the best player on a a good defense?
Gerry Dulac
11:10
Of course he does. In fact, he's still the overwhelming favorite because his numbers are so gaudy for the time he's played

Gerry, best chance of playoffs is for Bengals to lose 2 and Steelers to win 2, correct?
Gerry Dulac
11:11
I've always thought their best chance to the postseason was winning the division. But they would also need the Ravens to lose a game.

what's more frustrating, the refusal to use a fb effectively or the refusal to go no-huddle?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
First off, you can't go no-huddle all the time. Secondly, it's not frustrating that they don't use a FB; it's perplexing. Derek Watt is the second highest-paid FB in the league, based on annual salary. He is easily the highest-paid based on number of offensive snaps. That's a lot of cash to pay a guy to play on special teams.

In your estimation, who has the best odds of being the QB in 2022....free agent veteran, Rudolph or high draft pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:14
Rudolph

morning Gerry.  Knowing two games left and a lot can happen post season, your thoughts on how Steelers pursue Ben’s replacement.   Thanks and happy new year.
Gerry Dulac
11:15
I think they intend to let Rudolph take over and give Haskins a legitimate shot in the preseason.

Gerry, HOF QB has won 67% of his games during career and 80% in 2020. Why not rely on him to run what he's comfortable with vs OC with mediocre success at college level and zero experience at NFL level?
Gerry Dulac
11:15
I know....it's idiotic!

Gerry, the Steelers normally start slow, then go slower before going fast.  Against the Chiefs they started slow, got slower, and remained there the entire game.   In your opinion, what was their best complete game (s) they played so far this year?  I say the Bills game so long ago!  The very best to you in the New Year!
Gerry Dulac
11:19
You're probably right about the Bills game. Defense was good the whole game, offense was good only in the second half when they scored on four consecutive possession. The next closest thing would probably be the Denver game in terms of being solid on both sides of the ball. That was a long time ago, too.

Gerry, how many games does Tom Brady win this 2021 Steelers team ?
Gerry Dulac
11:19
It wouldn't matter with this offensive line.

If Juju was interested in a three year deal, $7-8M per, would you bite? Juju, Muth, Claypool and DJ (if extended) plus Harris makes a receiving core that could rival what Cincy has now and give the next QB plenty of weapons.
Gerry Dulac
11:21
He is still their most dependable option, so, yes, I would. But I would caution about over-evaluating the Steelers corps of receivers. They're good, not great. They are not the equal of the Bengals trio, especially Higgins and Chase.

Hi Gerry-  Morning.  Seems like MT is going to Have to be told to replace Canada.  Has AR forced coordinator changes in past?  Is it not inconsistent to say you are comfortable with the OC’s play calling while at the same time say you have no problems if the keys are handed over to #7?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
I think you are correct, especially if he thinks he has "no reservations" about the play-calling.

Good morning. What is your opinion of the officiating in the NFL? I see it as inconsistent and having too much impact on the game. Are the rules now too complicated for interpretation? Finally, what can be done to fix/improve it?
Gerry Dulac
11:23
I see it being greatly influenced/hindered by replay and the eye in the sky

Could you see Joe Haden making a switch to Safety to finish his career  , kinda like Rod Woodson did ? Regardless of what position Steelers need to try and sign him for another couple seasons.
Gerry Dulac
11:23
I could see that happening

Assuming Butler retires why would some up and coming coach want to come to Pittsburgh If Tomlin is making the defensive calls? He wouldn’t, so they’ll be left hiring some old retread that’s failed before as a DC.
Gerry Dulac
11:23
Pay the man!
11:24
And, Utah, I think they will promote from within again...for that reason
Utah Jim
11:24
Isn’t making the playoffs and being one and done the worst possible scenario for their long-term prospects? Regardless of draft position it will continue the delusion they are just a few players away from being back on top of the conference.
Gerry Dulac
11:25
I don't think you have to worry about that. Plus, nobody could possibly be duped about this team, even if they made the playoffs, could they???

Its been three consecutive offseasons that Steelers ownership has said they will improve the run game.  But each year the run game gets worse.   Should we believe that this coaching staff doesn't understand the running game, or that they ignore  ownership's goals ?
Gerry Dulac
11:26
No it's called having maybe the worst offensive line in the league, and that's not always because of coaching. It's because of the players assembled.

11:26
Hey Gerry enjoy your chats! Can you see the Steelers winning these next 2 games and can we get in the playoffs
Gerry Dulac
11:26
Nope. Based on what I've been watching, I can't see them winning at all.

With whisenhunt being available now with Ben done… can’t help but wonder what if that wokos
Gerry Dulac
11:27
Ken Whisenhunt is exactly what this offense needs. But Mike Tomlin would never hire him unless he was told.

Gerry-  You have had front row seat all season.  From what you have seen would JC at center be better option for last two games?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
No.

Do you think MT was being totally truthful about the Klemm situation?
Gerry Dulac
11:28
For the most part, yes. The Steelers had no intention of replacing him after the season. But both sides had agreed he would remain till the season was over, so something changed in a week's time.

How long do you think Ben will draw out the will he or won't he retire?  And do you think the Front Office will allow him to drag it on until March like last season?
