Why are we talking trade for MB he came around at years end in my opinion and he is cheap and as Ed wrote he wants to have a big year so he can get long term in 2019 unless you get a two for him and that isn’t happening

I am glad to hear the competition committee is considering a pass interference rule change (15 yards instead of spot foul).  It is nice to see rules favor the defense for a change.  What are your thoughts?

In the big picture defensively, wouldn't the biggest impact on the unit (besides the obvious challenge of replacing #50) be acquiring an edge rusher who would consistently "get home"? This would allow them to stop manufacturing pressure via blitzing ILBs and Hilton and take some pressure off of the coverage.

If Ryan Shazier were to make a miraculous recovery, and possibly return in 2019, would he then be an unrestricted free agent? Or do they get any sort of additional year like they did with Martavis Bryant?

Bryant was different. He was suspended. Shazier would be like an IR guy cause he's still getting paid. Bryant wasn't.

Gerry, If we save $15 million in LB's salary, how do we use it to improve the defense.  Do you think there are some real stars that might be available on the open market that will be a major upgrade to the defense?  Or would we use the money to sign several average free agents who would not really improve the defense?  In other words, if we are going to use LB's salary to improve the defense, who do you have in mind?

I think when they signed Joe Haden last year, it showed they are willing to spend money to bring in a player to shore up their defense.
