With the steelers approach to the draft of selecting the bpa,there were concerns of qb having to wait 2-3 years behind Ben,wouldn't that be the case for every position except wr & ilb, and make more sense to trade down for more picks?

They dont need more picks, they need ONE really good one. They have a pretty good roster

If the 4 ILB's with 1st Rd grades are gone at 28, do the Steelers automatically take the best safety (like Reid), or do they take the best player available?  I've seen McGlinchey mocked in the mid-late 20s lately, seems like he'd be a steal at that point if the team is comfortable with Davis and Burnett in the near term.

I think any and all positions are available if all the ILBs they like with a first-round grade are gone. I believe they will learn toward defense, but nothing would surprise me. To that end, I still haven't ruled out TE Mike Gesicki as their top pick, even though that doesn't seem to be a tremendous need. He has a big-time grade on him

Gerry...I have some concerns about Leighton vander Esch being drafted by the Steelers (potentially) This is nt only due to his medical concerns but because his tape shows that most of his tackles occur 4-5 yards downfield. Do you have any thoughts on this as it appears to me that he is another workout warrior in the mold of a former first round pick from georgia

I don't think Jarvis Jones will ever be confused with a workout warrior. Idk, what I've watched of Vander Esch, I've seen him make plays behind the line of scrimmage. Look, he doesn't have Ryan Shazier speed but he has good range. And he appears to be smart, which is another very important component for a defense that keeps bleeding mental mistakes

Again, I wouldn't be surprised, but then they would be taking a player with their No. 1 pick who might not ever see the playing field. That's not what they need.

I did consider that the blown assignments and miscommunication was a player issue but it has been happening consistently for the past 3-4 years. Is that a lot of really brain dead players or poor coaching?

Depends what round he is drafted. That will determine if he is a steal. But he's a very good player who has overcome his disability

If top 4 ILB's are gone at 28, and Lamar Jackson and/or Mason Rudolph are still on the board, do you think the Steelers would trade down a few spots to add a coyple more early round picks?

It wouldn't shock me, but I don't think that helps them at all for 2018, even though Kevin Colbert talks about players who can help in 2019 and beyond. The Steelers are a Super Bowl-contending team right now. They are just one piece away. Now is not the time to think about 2019 or beyond. Strike while the iron is hot.

Gerry we have 2 stud DE in Heyward and Tuitt. Wouldn’t it make more sense to add more fire power to the Dline since the Steelers seem to be changing philosophies on interior rushing vs rushing from the edge.  Plus we have seen what happens if one of them gets hurt or they are gassed from too many snaps.
