Correct. Has to clear waivers. But I don't think they are going to keep 4 QBs around.

Might be just me, but I'm most interested in seeing Jaylen Samuels this summer. From his abilities and highlights, he could be the fourth wide/slot guy or drop into the backfield for carries. What do you think, Gerry?
Gerry Dulac
11:18
On paper, I agree, that could be a possibility. I'll wait till I see him somewhere else, like on the practice field

Been a lot of talk about “sub packages” this week..and I’m on board with who was drafted with who was available... Does this roster, ILB wise, win say a game like Jacksonville next time? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:18
Uh, Jaguars are not unbeatable.

Gerry, Can Mason Rudolph make all the throws? In the limited film I have watched I don't see him throwing the 10-20 yard out patterns. These are the ones that end up going the other way for 6 if the QB doesn't have the strength to get it there on time. There has to be a reason he slid so far. What is it?
Gerry Dulac
11:20
I didn't evaluate him that closely. He is definitely a vertical passer. All I know is the Steelers had him graded right with the other top QBs. They were going to take him in the second round until they traded Martavis Bryant and all of a sudden needed a No. 3 receiver.

You scoffed at me a few weeks ago when I said they should trade Martavis to the Raiders or 9ers. Who is scoffing now? I haven't seen any GM jobs on Indeed.com. I'll keep looking.

I bow to thee

Since Ben was a rookie and came in and showed he was the man, he's never had to worry that another QB would take his job. Now there is a QB that is literally here to replace him. Do you think that competition will drive him to prepare for the season even harder?
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Based on what I've seen of his production the past 3 years, Ben doesn't need anyone to motivate him. Plus, Mason Rudolph is not his competition. He might be Landry Jones' competition down the line, but not Ben

Hi Gerry, On board with all picks, and if Chuks can make it anywhere it will be with coach Munchak..but thought they should have went D in round 4... Thoughts? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:22
Agreed

Hi Gerry, Was the best move of the draft... The Bryant trade? This one fell in there lap, and could be one pointed to in years to come.. Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:23
It was one of the better ones. You got as third-round pick for a guy who was a fourth-round pick and has two suspensions. Good move

Gerry,  Who has the final say on a draft pick when there is a difference of opinion? Thank you.
Gerry Dulac
11:24
If there is a difference of opinion, especially a big one, they don't take that guy. They only draft players they both agree on, for the most part.

I like Martavis but that was a good trade. New WR Washington should be able to do what Martavis did and more. 50 for 600 yds and 3 TDs is replaceable. Agree?
Gerry Dulac
11:25
Couldn't agree more

hi Gerry ... as much as 26 is awesome and the best running back in the league .. there comes a point were the team has to come first .. do you think we are near to that point ?? and how are we going to get to preasure  the quarterback when we have not improved our weakness from last year ??? thks ...
Gerry Dulac
11:26
Pressuring the QB is not a major problem. They did lead the league in sacks, after all. And, as for 26, I think the Steelers have always taken that approach -- team comes first -- and I don't think they are going to change now. I sure hope not

Gerry, I think we found our next QB1 in Rudolph after 7 retires. My question is about Dobbs. I think IMO he beats out Jones this preseason & Steelers keep him. Would Steelers find any trade value in Jones?
Gerry Dulac
11:27
It wouldn't surprise me if they traded Jones before the season. He
11:29
Oops...his contract is up at the end of the season and, who knows, they might get a decent draft pick for him. Either way, Dobbs is not in line to be the No. 2 QB, only Rudolph. I don't expect the Steelers to trade Jones. But, with Rudolph, they are not going to re-sign Jones next season, that's for sure.

Hi Gerry - do you think the Steelers might look at a trade later in the summer for an ILB (perhaps for a 2019 draft pick) or a training camp player that is released?
Gerry Dulac
11:29
Perhaps. Wouldn't surprise me
JerseySteel
11:30
Hi Gerry - any of the UDFA's that the Steelers signed that could have a chance to make the roster?
Gerry Dulac
11:30
Won't know that till I see them on the field in pads.
Matt
11:30
Does the Samuels pick make Fitz a practice squad player? Or vice versa?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I don't think Fitz will be on the practice squad if he gets cut.
Matt
11:31
WR depth chart Brown,JuJu,Washington,Hunter,DHB?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
Probably. Maybe Ayers
Mel Blount
11:32
Hi Gerry, any word on the development of Brian Allan and Keion Adams. Do you think either of them are likely to see the field other than special teams in 2018?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
I think Keion Adams could be the surprise of training camp
JerseySteel
11:32
Hi Gerry - I saw a report from Jeremy Fowler that while many draft analysts had Terrel Edmunds as a 2nd/3rd rounder - most  NFL team execs he spoke with had him as a 1st rounder and one team as a top 15 pick. What are you hearing about Edmunds?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
I'm hearing the Steelers liked him!!!
Matt
11:32
Where does Hawkins fit in with Chuks pick?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Camp will decide that. But I don't think it costs him a roster spot. They lost Hubbard, they replaced him w Chuks
Matt
11:33
Does Chickillo resign? Also any interest in Travis Feeney has a depth player at OLB?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
Chick already re-signed.
