I don't suspend him because then the players union gets involved. But I sit him down, make him inactive for one game. The social-media nonsense is not an egregious team offense. Blowing off a day's work without permission is. Mike Tomlin has to let every player know that won't be tolerated.

Maybe neither, because I'm not sure it was by design. One of the things KC was able to do with success was get the Steelers into favorable matchups, whether cover-2 or man coverage.

Especially the deep ones. He has been high with a lot of throws. I don't know the reason. Maybe early-season timing? But it's apparent.

Agreed. Or at least be smart enough to ignore people on Twitter who criticize you or demean you. Or do what I do -- block those who use offensive language or question your integrity or knowledge. Ignore them. Alas, some just can't seem to do that

I can't really take seriously this Bleacher Report article, by a person that hasn't been in the locker room, quotes an NFC South assistant coach (who also hasn't been in the locker room). In your opinion, do you get the feel that Coach Tomlin has lost the locker room? Or is this just click-bait material that will go away with a win (whenever that may be)

Those people have NO idea what they're talking about. Tomlin hasn't, nor has he ever, lost the locker room. That being said, I wish he would make more public rebukes of his players when they say and do very public things that embarrass the organization. When he doesn't, it creates the appearance he tolerates and condones their behavior, which, in turn, creates the appearance he has lost the locker room. And let's be real here -- how many players are we really talking about that have created a potential distraction? Two. They just happen to be two of their better players, but by no means, two of their leaders.

Gerry, You game plan with the players you have.  Complicated scheme excuse has grown old.  It was a huge mistake not replacing Butler at the end of last year.  A new fresh approach is needed for the defense.  What are your thoughts?  Thank you.

Unlike this week's opponent, one of the biggest problems is the linebacker unit, maybe the most average group the Steelers have had for as long as I can remember. That doesn't excuse opposing wide receivers/tight ends running wide open through their secondary.

In the NFL, deservedly or not, sooner or later the head coach becomes ultimately responsible for an underperforming team.  Are we reaching that point with Coach Tomlin?

That is true. Look what Tampa Bay did with Tony Dungy years ago -- let him go because he couldn't take the Bucs beyond winning division titles or merely making the playoffs. Ironically, Tampa Bay will honor Dungy at Monday night's game

Not sure right now. I think DeCastro will be back, but don't know about Gilbert. Hamstring injuries are tricky and can very easily be aggravated and made worse, so they might be cautious w him. I don't know the extent of Foster's knee, but if it's the ones that caused him to miss training camp and the preseason, then they might exercise real caution w that.

To me, that just a convenient excuse for being out-foxed and/or out-played. Miscommunication is also just another way of saying the player blew his assignment.
