This team always seems to Prefer the Over-30 Veteran players, however, it Cost them big time last year, especially on Defense.  What is it going to take to change the Team philosophy to be more " younger player " friendly ?
Darragh McDonald
5:39
Free agents are always on the older side because you have to have six years of service time. Getting younger requires strong player development.
So, it'll be hard to see how they're accomplishing this immediately unless you show up at the Double-A ballpark and watch the pitching coach with a clipboard.

Is Bellinger or Nimmo (or both) to the Giants realistic and if so what would a good contract be for them?
Darragh McDonald
5:40
Yeah, Susan Slusser reported today that the Giants are interested in them.
I doubt they get both, though. In both cases, their center field defense is a big part of the appeal.
Willie Mays Hayes

If they do sign a big SS does Crawford move to 2nd?
Darragh McDonald
5:42
A very good question. That would certainly be the smart move from a cold-hearted perspective. But I suspect Crawford gets a chance to play out the last year of his deal there.
Giants Pitching
5:43
If Rodon were to leave, would the Giants be inclined to get a top FA pitcher like Verlander or DeGrom or would they try to do more like what they've done in the past with reclamation projects like Gausman?
Darragh McDonald
5:43
It probably depends what happens with the other targets.
5:44
If they miss on Judge and the shortstops, might as well go big on the rotation then.

Surprised Wade wasn’t non tendered? Down year last year and the outfield is very lefty heavy.
Darragh McDonald
5:44
They seem to believe he can bounce back.
5:45
It's not a huge amount of money, so, not that shocking.
MLBTR projected 1.4MM. The league minimum is 720K next year.

Do you think Correa would play it 2b or 3b if the deal went down? I lean 3B
Darragh McDonald
5:48
It's an interesting question because he seems like he'd have the arm for third. But with the shift bans coming into play, teams might put a higher priority on second base defense.
Bellinger
5:49
Everyone doubted me but now every team is a suitor for me?
Darragh McDonald
5:49
Well, it depends on the price. Everyone loves a bargain.
He was projected for 18MM in arbitration, which no one wanted to pay. But if you can get him for, like, 8MM? That's more attractive.

Are the writers going to post their Top 50 Predictions?
Darragh McDonald
5:51
For the contest? Yeah, I believe you will be able to see all of our predictions on the leaderboard when it's up.
Some of them will be slightly different from the Top 50 because some stuff happened in between, like Tyler Anderson going to the Angels.

Does Correa sign a long contract or a similar contract (Twins contract with early opt outs)
Darragh McDonald
5:52
I think the Twins deal was a one-off due to special circumstances.
5:53
He didn't find the deal he wanted prior to the lockout, then switched agencies during the lockout.
There was a narrow time frame between the end of the lockout and the start of the season so he made a quick compromise.
I forget the details off the top of my head, but I believe he was the first athlete to be signed by a showbiz agency.
5:54
Now he has Boras so I think he'll shoot for the moon.

I’m sure you’re getting a million judge questions, but isn’t he more of a need for the giants than any other team? Not only does he check the box of an elite player they need, but he’s icon the team needs. He has way more to offer than just being a player on the field.
Darragh McDonald
5:55
I think Yankee fans would argue he's an icon for them as well.

Do you think the Giant's success with Rodon and Gausman will help them attract Senga?  It seems to me that he would benefit by going to a club that has success developing pitchers at the major league level?
Darragh McDonald
5:56
Perhaps it could be a factor. But he's also reportedly looking for a contender. And money is always important.

Do you know when the free agent prediction leaderboard is coming out?
Darragh McDonald
5:57
I do not, but a couple of people have asked me about this so I'll inquire.

Do you see the Giants being a contender for Ohtani next year? I feel like if we have to trade for him, no, but as to the final piece for a rising contender, yes yes yes!
Darragh McDonald
5:59
Sure, I can see it. Tons of long-term payroll flexibility for now. But it depends what they do this winter.

A hard ballpark to homer in , would Judge really want to come to the Bay area ?
Darragh McDonald

What if they give him over 300 million reasons to look fondly at the place?

Match the Dodgers success? Didn't we just win 3 World Series last decade?
