Shots fired.

Do you think the Dodgers organization will ever be able to match the success of the Giants over the previous decade?
Joseph C
6:01
Yeah, dodgers also didn't win 3 WS in 5 years.  Don't gaslight us with that kind of question.
Darragh McDonald
6:02
I love the passion.

Icemike What do you think about the giants taking a flyer on Jason Heyward
Darragh McDonald
6:02
I think they can do better.
Andy

Is Andrew Benintendi an option for the Giants as a CF? Seems like he played exclusively in the corner last year with solid marks.
Darragh McDonald
6:03
I don't think Benintendi is an everyday option in center.

Is this because of the Linden thing?

What would it take for the Giants to swing a deal for Bryan Reynolds or Gleyber Torres and how likely is a move like that if they miss out on Judge/Nimmo and the top 4 FA shortstops respectively?
Darragh McDonald
6:04
All reports indicate the asking price on Reynolds remains high.
6:05
Gleyber shouldn't be too hard to get, however.

Less games versus the Dodgers and the Padres with the new schedule, will this help their win total and wild card chances ?
Darragh McDonald
6:06
Perhaps, sure. I can see it making a marginal difference. Broadly speaking, the new schedule should benefit coastal teams and hurt the Central teams.
Joe
6:07
How is Linden close to the Bay Area? What are you talking about?
Darragh McDonald
6:07
Okay, it's 2-1 now.
Realistic SP Addition
6:07
The Giants will not overpay for deGrom, Verlander, or Rodon so what are some realistic FA additions or trade targets?
Darragh McDonald
6:07
If they miss on the top guys, there's plenty of mid-rotation guys in free agency this year.
6:08
Taillon, Eovaldi, Bassitt, Taijuan, Thor, and about a dozen more.

How does baseball salary cap work ? How is it that teams like Dodgers Yankees seem to have no limit
Darragh McDonald
6:08
There's no salary cap. It's a competitive balance tax.
You pay a fee depending on how far you go over the CBT threshold.

I hear nothing about Andrew Chafin. He seems like he'd be an excellent influence on the Giants bullpen. What kind of contract do you forsee him getting?
Darragh McDonald
6:10
We predicted 2/18. But he supposedly signed with the Tigers to be near his Ohio home or farm or ranch or something.
I don't know if that still matters to him, but it could work against a fit for a West Coast team.

You are not good. Linden is not close to the Bay Area and we do not forgive you. Here in the Bay Area we have 3 rules: don't call it "Frisco"; don't put a "the" in front of freeway names; and don't mix up what cities are in the Bay Area!
Darragh McDonald
6:11
It's tied!
I also had a Twitter commenter say that I shouldn't call it "San Fran." Do y'all not like that either?
Giacgara

Baseball’s a team sport. Would rather have several good FA signings than overpay on one big one that ends poorly, yes?  P.S.: Most Giants’ fans didn’t know where Linden was until this season either.

I forgive you! It’s close enough

Hells Angels call it Frisco and I wouldn't mess with them. San Fran is cringy tho.

It's not bay area but it's a whole lot closer than NY

So if I'm leaving LA to go up there, I can't say I'm taking The 5?

Anyone on this? I'm in Canada so I can't answer.
