That's a good question. Based on the results so far, you'd have to say the Rockets would be high on that list. Amen Thompson is an absolutely ridiculous athlete but his jumper and decision-making are shaky. Has been compared to a smaller Ben Simmons (in a good way) since he impacts the game in a lot of ways besides shooting.

Blazers take Murray ?
Rory Maher
9:40
They are indeed, according to Shams.
Kings up next at No. 24.
Cash for Picks

What’s the going rate for a early/late 2nd rounder $5M?
Rory Maher
9:41
We'll find out pretty soon. The Lakers had to trade the No. 47 pick and $4.3MM to move up to No. 40, for what it's worth.
9:44
9:45
Prosper heading to Dallas at No. 24.
9:46
So the Mavs flipped Bertans and No. 10 to land Lively (No. 12), created a TPE to absorb Holmes' contract and acquired Prosper (No. 24) for taking on Holmes' money.
Really interesting moves. Holmes makes less money than Bertans, so they'll still have some money leftover on that trade exception.

Thanks for explaining that
Rory Maher

No problem.
Eastern Michigan
9:48
Anyone gonna draft the eastern Michigan player
Rory Maher
9:48
Emoni Bates? He's a projected second-rounder. Will likely catch on as a two-way guy if he doesn't get picked.
9:51
Multiple trades going down

What did the kings get?
Rory Maher
9:52
It was a salary dump. They'll have a lot more cap room in free agency now.

I find the 4,3 million to move up 8 spots in the draft quite expensive. But on the other hand, with the new CBA I guess the value of 2nd rounders has gone up... As a tax team, better spend all your leftover cash (up to 6,3 million to get a 2nd rounder) I guess
Rory Maher
9:53
I thought it was a lot too. Lakers must have someone they like a lot in that range.

Will Bicks trade up

You expecting more trades in 2nd round? Trades seem to be more about cap maneuvering vs acquiring actual players today
Rory Maher
9:54
There are always a bunch of second-round trades. A lot of them are fairly minor. We'll see what happens.
9:55
Pistons trading up to snag Marcus Sasser No. 25. Boston getting No. 31 and future seconds.

Bates had so much hype coming out of high school, I really doubt he goes undrafted. Project for sure, but worth drafting.

Being a Michigan State fan Emoni Bates gives me PTSD. I do see him as an option for the Grizzlies in round 2 though. Need a wing and he had so much potential coming out of High School.

More on Bates from earlier

Whats up with Nick Smith?
Shawn
9:57
Where’s nick smith jr land a lottery projected player out of high school fell flat at Arkansas
Rory Maher
9:58
Seems to have fallen quite a bit. He's one of those guys who may have actually been better off sitting out more in college. If I remember right, at one point there was a thought of shutting him down, but he came back and his stock took a major hit.
9:59
Don't remember the injury.
Emoni Bates
9:59
I wouldn't think the Griz front office would want Bates...given a past firearm issue...
Rory Maher

Fair point

He just got drafted Nick Smith Jr.
Rory Maher
10:01
Going to the Hornets at No. 27, yeah. Belmont's Ben Sheppard to the Pacers at 26.

Nick Smith's injury was a knee injury

Pistons thinking on Sasser? I dont think he was worth it. Any other moves up their sleeves?
Rory Maher

I don't have a strong opinion on most of these prospects because I focus more on the NBA. Hard to see where he fits in long-term with Cade and Ivey already there unless they like him off the bench.
