Ariza is one of those rare trade candidates that would make sense for just about every contending team in the NBA. He's versatile, you can slot him right away, and he's on an expiring contract. I don't expect the Wizards to flip him, but if they did, there are probably 10-15 teams that would have interest.

will clippers buy at the deadline? could flipping draft picks, gortat, maybe jerome robinson and a starter for butler make sense?

As I wrote in a Clippers Rumors post on the site today, it sounds like they'll be pretty reluctant to take on salary beyond this season unless it's a deal that's too good to pass up. That'll limit their options, but I could see them making a smaller-scale move or two that helps them get to the playoffs.

What is the moves the Mavericks need to make if they want to compete for a playoff spot? Or are they to far out that they should sell off some players.

Mavs should be looking ahead to 2019/20 and beyond, in my opinion. Now that they have a potential franchise guy like Doncic, their long-term focus should be building a sustainable winner around him, not pushing for a No. 8 seed in his rookie year. They don't want to make the same types of mistakes that, say, the Cavaliers did with LeBron (the first time around) or the Pelicans have with AD.
