He does seem to want chemistry ... like instantly. I think that was more about the group as a whole, honestly. Rust can fill that spot. Let him do that. And use Bjugstad on the second line. Or that's what they did then anyway.

When Murray was interviewed after the Edmenton game he referred to McDavid as the best player in the world.  How did that go over with his teammates considering Sid is the best player.
Jason Mackey
3:30
Sid himself said McDavid was the NHL's best player. I don't think anyone even noticed.

What pick do the pens have left for the upcoming draft?
Jason Mackey
3:34
Believe 1, 4, 4, 5 and 7.

do you think Maatta will be back this season?
Jason Mackey
3:34
I'm not a doctor. I'm not going to try and predict how his shoulder heals. I have no idea.
JB
3:34
To your point about JJ...yeah, if he's sheltered - a lot - he's fine.  But isn't the issue that the Pens for whatever reason are unwilling or unable to shelter him adequately?  They almost seem intent on bumping him up to the second pairing as often as possible...but whether that's true or not, is there any way to really argue that they're using him appropriately for the type of player that he is?
Jason Mackey
3:35
They were ... when he was with Pettersson. I was fine with that. But, yeah, I think long-term he's gonna be a problem if he's on your second pair. Unless you're REALLY careful with matchups.

Of the younger guys on the team, who do you think has the most potential to be like Matt Cullen and play into his early 40's and be revered for his conditioning, work ethic and character?
Jason Mackey
3:35
I don't know about younger guys, but I could easily see Crosby playing into his 40s, as long as his healthy cooperates.

Is the Metro the toughest division in the League? I can’t remember another year where there are so few points separating the 1 Team from those pushing for a wildcard spot
Jason Mackey
3:36
It usually has five teams. Although this year, yeah, I would agree that it's been the toughest. It's had that title a couple times recently.

As long as they don't include any vulgarity, do you have to address all "questions" asked on here?
Jason Mackey
3:37
I don't have to, but I usually do. I will try to move it along. Sorry.
Brad
3:37
who's your pens mvp so far this year?
Jason Mackey
3:37
Letang.
Michael
3:37
Thanks for the chat, Jason!   Enjoy the game tonight
Jason Mackey
3:37
Thanks, Michael. You, too!

Could you see Rikola being an adequate replacement for Maatta, if he’s moved in the offseason?? Or do you think Gmjr tries to pick someone up??
Jason Mackey
3:37
I think Riikola could be an adequate replacement for Maatta, yes.

Catchphrase:  "Spin my wheel and call me Mr. Fulton!"
Jason Mackey

Good luck with that.

Do you think any of the big four reportedly on the market, Panarin, Bobrovsky, Duchene & Stone, will make a difference in the team that acquires them winning the Cup? And is one Cup win worth it if you give up so much in picks/assets the team struggles for 3-5 years after?
Jason Mackey
3:38
Bobrovsky might make a different in the playoffs. Don't know if it will be a positive one. ... Seriously, though, I don't know how Panarin couldn't make a difference. The other three? Meh.

Jason, hunny, you do realize there's more than goals to a players overall production for a team right? Dominik Simon has 19 points at 5v5, good for #148 in the NHL (higher than Hoffman, Stepan, Keller, Henrique for example). He is #113 in p/60 for forwards with 500+ minutes at 5v5. There are 186 (31x6) top 6 spots in the NHL. Kinda hard to argue he’s not producing like a top 9 F.
Jason Mackey
3:39
Ha. I'm well-aware, Jill. I would not put Simon over 59, 87, 17, 46, 71, 81, 19, 27 or 72 -- the top-nine tonight -- right now. OK, he plays on the fourth line. I think it's fair to keep him in the mix there. But my point earlier was that it's also fair to question scoring three goals in 35 games while getting a lot of top-six minutes.

Does anyone in the locker room hold player's accountable for the all too familiar lackluster efforts?
Jason Mackey
3:40
Yes. I think they hold themselves accountable. But just because you hold each other accountable, it doesn't mean the problem is solved once and for all.

3:40
Is everything fine?
Jason Mackey
3:41
Yes, but you're asking a bunch of absurd questions, some of them not printable, and I'm trying to move this thing along.
Guaranteed playoffs
3:41
Just like the Steelers weren't going to miss the playoffs when they were 7-2-1?    The Pens are in bigger danger of missing playoffs now than the Steelers were with 25% of the season remaining.
Jason Mackey
3:41
I think they need to be aware of finishing the season strong, but I think it's a stretch to say they're in danger of missing the playoffs when they actually have a playoff spot.
Jill B
3:41
How many bowls of ice cream did you devour when Boyle got traded to NSH?
Jason Mackey
3:42
Ha. Zero. I'm not following what you're saying.

3:42
Do you think Sullivan will be replaced if Penguins go out early in the playoffs I think it's time?
Jason Mackey
3:42
Not a chance.
3:43
OK, folks. That does it for this week. Gotta clean up some stuff in the office and head over to Cambria for an hour with The PM Team. Thank you, as always, for participating. Have a good one!
