I think it's too early to say how expendable Riikola makes anyone. He could turn out to need more seasoning. I don't think that's likely, to be honest, but I just think it's too early to make any such assertion.

I'm not sure because I can't say for sure what he uses. But I do think it's an avenue the Penguins will explore -- checking to make sure his helmet offers enough protection ... and maybe a little more than your average helmet.

Hello Jason, my understanding about the odd-man rushes Pens allowed are not only about the D-core, individual skills or the pairing, it's structural. I believe when Sully implanted that D-system pinching all the time for offensive support, it was great when Pens where surprising the league with that new fast pace play... but the league has caught up to Pens speed... but Sully still wanna play that way with his D-core, he should innovate a new way... my two cents! ^_~

I think their issues are bigger than that, honestly. A lot of their issues have been on the breakout. That has nothing to do with D pinching. They need to be more effective on their breakouts, and that's something that's common with every NHL team. They're not consistently getting burned for being over-aggressive. It's a lot of stuff right now.

I don't think we're close to that point, honestly. I think the time to do it was this offseason, and GMJR never heard anything that made him think twice about moving Phil.
