do you think the comments Dupuis said will affect the Pens bringing him back to work for the team in some capacity in the future?
Jason Mackey
2:19
I don't think so. But I think they will let the dust settle a bit first.

I have to take my blood pressure meds early on hockey nights. Last night was no exception. Do you think the holiday break will affect any momentum the team gets going?
Jason Mackey
2:20
It could, but if they truly have turned a corner, I think it's entirely possible they'll be able to sustain it. The next two games will tell us a lot about where they are.

Jason, you are now 2-0 when predicting a Friday win in your Thursday chat.  Sounds like you like Pens Again tonight?
Joe
2:20
Jason thanks for the chats. What is the ceiling on Blueger? If he gets called up, will he be centering the third or fourth line?
Jason Mackey
2:20
Yeah, I think that's reasonable. Probably starting with the fourth line and seeing where it goes from there.

I missed what Dupris said.  Is there a link to it?

Wilson is scum of the Earth when will the NHL ban him? I expect a suspension from last night for what he did that was really dirty!
Jason Mackey
2:21
All he did was fight, as they agreed upon.

I think Pearson, Petterson, and Aston-Reese have all been contributors. I think Guentzel seems a little off - kinda like an adolescent who is trying to grow into his limbs. Or is it just me?
Jason Mackey
2:21
I don't have any problem with what Guentzel has done this season. Been way more good than bad. He's still a somewhat young player. That stuff is gonna happen.

Somehow I imagine so many folks wouldn't be up in arms if Oleksiak had pulverized Wilson
Jason Mackey
2:21
Very true.

Is there any concern in the organization that the version of Matt Murray from this year (besides last night) and last season is what he actually is rather than what he did in the previous year?
Jason Mackey
2:22
No, there's not. They think he's going to be fine, and I happen to agree with them.

I don't understand the Brassard hate. He's doing great at playing Center where he is. I don't generally expect my Centers to score goals that's what my wingers are for. Care to explain why the Media is out to get him just like they were with Kessel over the summer?
Jason Mackey
2:22
The media isn't out to get him, Hal. He simply hasn't done much when he's been in there. The numbers back that up.

How much of the criticism of Kessel's play do you think is related to his relationship with Sully?
Jason Mackey
2:22
I don't think any of it, to be honest with you. When he's been criticized, it's been when he's turning the puck over and being a non-factor. That's not Sullivan's fault.
Kelli
2:22
I believe they have what it takes.  Packaging it neatly & unleashing it is another story
Jason Mackey
2:22
Great point, Kelli.

I was shown a WAR chart and being told that it shows that Brassard is the 2nd worst skater on the team, but of course they ignore the fact that according to the exact same chart Olli is the 2nd best skater on the team. Do you think that makes the case that, that specific chart is wrong and Brassard isn't nearly as bad as people say he is?
Jason Mackey
2:23
I think that chart makes some sense. It's not perfect, but it does show that Brassard is not infallible.

Sorry if this was already said, but I thought Riley Sheahan was noticeable (in the good way) last night.  And do you still believe Johnson is a capable defender?  I’m not sure Pens can get to the promised land deploying their current 2nd and 3rd d-pairs.  Too many bottom pairing (at best) guys.
Jason Mackey
2:23
I think Sheahan was good last night, I agree. And I do think Johnson fits ... as long as he's on your third pair and nothing more.
Andrew
2:23
Jack Johnson has also been on the ice less than those guys.  Imagine how much people would drool over Pettersson if he had a favorable partner.
Jason Mackey
2:24
I think that pair has been fine, honestly.

Do you know who in the scouting staff would be most involved with New England prep? Curious as to who might have found about Liam Gorman seeing he’s a very under the radar guy.
Jason Mackey
2:24
I don't, I'm sorry. They don't divulge those sorts of things, although Kevin Stevens does handle some of the Boston area, I know that.
Justin
2:24
With Sullivan seemingly set with the netminders (DeSmith and Murray).  What do you see happening with Jarry?
Jason Mackey
2:25
Status quo for now. I think they see how this plays out and what happens with DeSmith over the summer, whether they're able to bring him back.
Joey
2:25
What are your thoughts on a Kessel-Sheahan combination for a 3rd line? They played pretty well for a couple weeks before last season's trade deadline.  I believe Sheahan can be a very good 3rd line center for this team.
Jason Mackey
2:25
I think it's worth exploring again, but this season it hasn't been very good. Kessel has been awfully quiet when deployed with Sheahan, and they can't have that.
Brad
2:25
which cup run is your favorite from the Crosby/Malkin era so far?
Jason Mackey
2:25
My pick would be 2017, because I got to cover it. Selfish, I know.

Assuming that the Penguins are still on the fringe of making the playoffs at the trade deadline, who is most likely to move?  Brassard since he's in the final year of his contract?  Oleksiak or Maata?  When Schultz returns, who is likely to be his partner on the second line?
Jason Mackey
2:26
I'm thinking Maatta, honestly. I'd say, at this point, Brassard is probably most likely to go.

What do you think about our current goalie situation and do you think GMJR will make any moves to change/fix it?
