responding to earlier....then who is the 12 forwards if rust and hornqvist is back, who sits?
Jason Mackey
11:47
If they return, I'd go:
11:48
Guentzel-Crosby-Sheary ... Rust-Malkin-Kessel ... Kunitz-Bonino-Hornqvist ... Wilson-Cullen-Rowney. ... I like the third line to set the tone as far as being physical and getting to Anderson.

Hey Jason, it looked like to me that weaving the puck seemed to open up the Sens 1-3-1 a bit, but our puck handling and passing wasn't up to par to pull it off. Fatigue, lack of on-ice groove, or just a bad night? I live in Nashville and want to see a Cup series with our Boys! Go Pens!
Jason Mackey
11:49
I don't live in Nashville, and I want to see a Stanley Cup Final with the Predators. Going east-west and weaving is a risky way to beat the 1-3-1. If things are a tad off, you're screwed. All things considered, I think the Penguins have been fine in their approach navigating the 1-3-1. Problem is, other things -- defensive play, generating offense down low -- have lacked.

What is going on in the faceoff circle? Pens seemed totally off last night, including their best guys
Jason Mackey
11:50
Until last night, they have been about five percentage points better in the playoffs than the regular season, with Game 2 around 62 percent, if memory serves. They stunk last night, but it's one game. Not a trend. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Plus, I find faceoffs to be a relatively meaningless stat.

So if MAF is still rattled and they go down 3-0 and we can't make it back up the hill because we're worried about an insult. This is business and he definitely needs a day off imho. So then if MM excels you would be afraid of that and keeping him in Game 5? I'm sure MAF would take one for the team, he did last year and we won the Cup!
Jason Mackey

Fleury is a quality human and a team guy. I have no doubt he'll support the decision. And if MM excels, heck no I wouldn't take him out; you play the guy who gives you the best chance to win. Take context out of this. There were so many more issues last night than Fleury. He's been exemplary these playoffs. Why are we pulling Fleury, then, and not rejiggering the defense? Just saying.

Jason, who has had success against the Senators, and can we go to school on them? Thanks!
Jason Mackey
11:54
Crosby and Malkin have crushed the Senators during their careers. Game 4 would be a good time for that to again continue.

I thought Streit was effective at getting shots through, something the other Dmen don't seem to do, especially on the PP. If Schultz is back, is it Streit who goes back to a healthy scratch?
Jason Mackey
11:55
I don't disagree with you, but I don't think he's worth the spot if Rust and Hornqvist come back; you'd have to scratch a forward -- Wilson, Rowney or both -- that I think would be a better option. And if Schultz is back, absolutely Streit is a healthy scratch.

Is Sprong a LW or RW?
Jason Mackey
11:55
RW.

Your gut feeling: Do you still think the Pens will win the series?
Jason Mackey
11:55
Yes. In six.

On the postgame show last night, Millbury and Roenick both said Murray should start tomorrow, and even said Sullivan will definitely go with Murray. I dont have a question but thought it was interesting they were so adamant and sure it should/would happen, considering it doesn't seem like anyone else thinks it should.

Looks like it'll be Fleury for Game 4. Don't know if I could take less seriously what those two say.

I know now for a FACT that Phil Kessel's ire is mostly directed at Chris Kunitz, who has one goal since just after Valentine's day. I get that there are injuries. I get that there's a lot more to their inability to score 5 on 5 lately than #14. That being said, when you see 71 and 81 openly frustrated while the team seems suddenly unable to score, isn't it time to switch things up? If he's unable to contribute on offense, he should be taking runs at Phaneuf at every opportunity, yet he doesn't. I know you're tired of me bashing Kunitz, but the treatment he gets from the staff is comical now. ANY other option would be a better one.

Hi Billy. I'll say this: If Rust comes back, I'd put him with 71 and 81. And with Kessel, I don't want him hitting Phanuef or anyone. That's counter-productive. I'd tell him to shoot the puck every single time he had it. I don't care where he was on the ice.

If Sprong is Top 6 next season, then what are your projected top 2 lines?
Jason Mackey
11:58
Let's go: Sheary-Crosby-Sprong ... Guentzel-Malkin-Kessel
OK, folks. That does it. Have to get ready and head to Penguins practice. Will talk to yinz from there. Thanks, as always for participating. Fun one today!
