Do you think the Pens will attempt to trade for a Defenseman?
Jason Mackey
1:47
I don't, Bob. Sorry.
Logan
1:48
I'm going to assume Sprong, Sheary, and all of our draft picks are options to be traded in a major deal. Would I be correct?
Jason Mackey
1:48
Yes.

Murray has been playing very good hockey lately.  Following the Dad's trip, where is his head at right now?
Jason Mackey
1:48
Where it should be. Ha. I asked him if he felt like he was on a roll. Gave me a defiant answer about not judging himself by such things, just stopping the next shot. Spoke volumes. Dude's locked in right now, I think.

You said you can't say how serious a Brassard deal is. Is there something you need to tell us ;)
Jason Mackey
1:49
No. I would, believe me. I would report it. Benefits me in no way to withhold perfectly good information. Just mean that I don't cover Ottawa and can't speak for Pierre Dorion's timetable.

Do you think Hagelin gets traded in the offseason? I don't think we should if he keeps up his play.
Jason Mackey
1:49
No way. He's been too good. Great for Malkin, too. He's worth every penny the way he's playing at the moment.

If you have three apples and four oranges in one hand and four apples and three oranges in the other hand, what do you have?
Very Large Hands

Thanks, Bob. Good to hear from you.

What are the pens chances of the pens getting Grabner off the rangers?
Jason Mackey
1:50
There's a chance, but he doesn't address the fourth-line center need. Might be a bit superfluous.

Do you think when Kunackle comes back that Reaves goes out of the line-up?  The fourth line did better when it was Kunackle and Rust.
Jason Mackey
1:51
I don't. If they had to pick, I think the Penguins would prefer Reaves. Only reason I could see Kuhnhackl playing over Reaves -- both are so-so skaters -- is penalty killing, but Aston-Reese and Rust have done a nice job with that.

Hello, would you sign Brian Gianta or Chris Kelly after the olympics for forward depth?
Jason Mackey
1:51
No, I would not.

Reports LA and Pens were scouting each other for awhile... Any chance LA was proposing Shore for Cole and GMJR said no way, so LA went for Dion instead?
Jason Mackey
1:51
I think you're reading way, way too much into the scouting sheets.

Here we're JR's radio comments...https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/penguins-gm-confident-team-will-ad... basically reiterated that there were only a few years left with Sid and Geno before a major rebuild and he would do "anything" to give them another chance a Cup or two. It sounded a lot like he was trying for bigger moves than a 4C
Jason Mackey
1:52
That's one way of looking at it, and I don't disagree with you. He certainly could. And thanks for linking. Big help. ... My issue here isn't that Jim will try or want to. ... Can he? Can he get a legit 3C with his assets and fit it under the cap? I'm not sure.

Where would you put Sully in the list of current NHL coaches right now?
Jason Mackey
1:53
Top three. Can see an argument for Babcock ahead of him based on the resume. Cooper has the best team in the NHL. Beyond that ... maybe Gallant. Maybe. But that's it.

If GMJR fails to pull off a trade, will that take some pressure off of me for failing to make trades?
Jason Mackey
1:54
It would sure take the pressure off me answering about Ottawa and Brassard.

1:54
Can we get Mark Letestu for a 3rd or 4th round pick?
Jason Mackey
1:54
Yes, we could. Would have to figure out how to fit him under the cap, but I don't think that would be a huge issue.

I keep hearing the name Tommy Wingels come up in connection with the Pens. Do you know if they are interested in him and if so, why? I think he's terrible
Jason Mackey
1:55
I have not seen that anywhere. A link to the report would be helpful.

Besides Crosby and Malkin, are there other Pens that spent little to no time in the minors before sticking in the NHL?  I would imagine a few years in the minors is more the norm than not?
Jason Mackey
1:57
Hagelin had a short AHL career because of college. Guentzel wasn't there long. Maatta never played in the NHL. It's certainly rare.

Do you think it's possible Ryan Reaves hits waivers at some point soon? Gives some cap flexibility and roster spots are going to be tough to come by with the Penguins running 8 D right now and the possible acquisition of a 4C.
Jason Mackey
1:57
No, I don't. I think they're keeping him for games such as Sunday -- in Columbus, plenty on the line.

Who would be a team you wouldn’t wanna face in the first round if you were the Pens?
Jason Mackey
1:57
Tampa. But that's about it.

Why is Rowney constantly playing? He's been bad. Could Blueger be any worse? Why call him up from WBS just to sit the press box?
Jason Mackey
1:58
I've wondered the same thing. I don't have a good answer for you, other than Sully seems to love Rowney. Give the kid a shot. What could it hurt?

Fire on the mountain and Scarlet begonias some of my best work. Your favorites?

3/22/90 hands down.
