Robocop 3 or Terminator 4? If you had to choose...
Jason Mackey

A nap.

Any chance a couple of WBS' top D get a longer trial run at the NHL level this month?  The team seems receptive to promoting forwards.  Why not the D?
Jason Mackey
1:45
Andrey Pedan, question No. 4. ... Because -- obviously you guys and gals disagree -- the Penguins like their top-six on defense. They don't feel there's a need. Please don't shoot the messenger here.

What changes do you think Sullivan will make to the four lines?  Brassard with Sheahan and Kessel looked to be gathering steam midway through the game.  Sheary was nonexistent as well as the 4th line during the game.
Jason Mackey
1:45
I think you need to play Sheary with Sid and Guentzel. It's where he has the most value. Keep Geno's line together. I'd go Rust with Kessel and Brassard and say some prayers on the fourth line.

Jason,  Is Oleksiak signed for next year?  If Not, do you think the Pens will attempt to keep him?  He's our only physical D man and "Enforcer," for lack of a better term
Jason Mackey
1:46
He's an RFA, and yes, the Penguins will keep him. They like him quite a bit.
Jason
1:46
Pens defense looks shaky as can be....What is the deal with Conner Sheary playing so lousy? He cannot even keep a puck on His stick..
Jason Mackey
1:46
He's in a funk. That happens when players are struggling. When they keep it, they're generally feeling it. I'm surprised they haven't tried to give him a different look at this thing with a night off.

If you were a betting man, who would you place your money on right now to win the cup?
Jason Mackey
1:47
Tampa. Followed closely by Pittsburgh. But I'm not a betting man.

1:47
Would you split up Hunwich/Oleksiak?
Jason Mackey
1:47
I would not. I would try to properly manage their minutes. Leave the top-four as is.
Coach

Who is the best in-game strategist:  Tomlin, Sullivan or Hurdle?
Jason Mackey
1:47
Interesting question. Somewhat loaded, though, because Sullivan has the most power. But I'm going Sully anyway. Dude's won the past two Cups. Can't argue with that.

Hey Jason, would you explain what constitutes a legal vs. non-legal face-off?
Jason Mackey
1:48
Several things, from something as early as who puts their stick down first to using one's feet. Have to follow the order and keep your distance.

Will the Pens have enough cap room to sign Rust this offseason? What sort of contract do you think he will demand?
Jason Mackey
1:49
Yes, they will. The RFA deal won't be a big thing. He'll get a long-term extension. Thinking maybe in the $3.5 million range? Just spit-balling here.

Would Sully think Ovechkin is a complete player?  Kessel?  This Sprong standard seems silly.  I can see applying it to guys like Rust who aren't pure scorers, but doesn't Sprong's absence defy hockey logic?
Jason Mackey
1:50
If Sprong had a 30-goal season on his resume, you can leave with it. He doesn't. And even his offense came and went. He hasn't been good enough to make the coaching staff overlook the other stuff. Kessel has. There's the difference.

Who is our 8th defensemen now?
Jason Mackey
1:50
Probably Andrey Pedan, the star of this chat.
Nate

Do you think the Pens would have had the same success if they drafted Ovechkin instead of Malkin? If I remember correctly the Pens had a shot at the #1 pick but wound up with #2 that year.
Jason Mackey
1:50
It's hardly a consolation prize. I think they would have had success. It's impossible to say whether Ovechkin and Crosby would've meshed the way Malkin has with Sid, but I don't think they would've been bad by any stretch.

Does Jooris come up once Murray is healthy?
Jason Mackey
1:51
Possibly. Depends on how he's playing and the need. But it isn't totally tied to Murray. Or at all, really.

"FUTURE FACE OF THE NHL"  No one thinks Taylor Hall is the face of the league now, but think about in a few years if he continues on this path? Thoughts?
Jason Mackey
1:51
No, I don't think so. He'll be an elite player, sure, but I just don't see him in the Sid/McDavid/Matthews mold. Sorry.

1:51
Who do you see as the better option in net while Murray is out?  What makes you lean to DeSmith or Jarry?
Jason Mackey
1:52
Whoever is playing better, honestly. Not being glib here. I thought Casey was good enough Tuesday. I understand coming back with him. If he stinks, then you go to Jarry. Play the hot hand and don't overthink it.

Jason! Why no answer on trade deadline day??  I was on edge why you did not get the black bean soup? You left me hanging.....waaaay more important then trade stuff that day
Jason Mackey
1:52
Sorry, Bob.

Why doesn't Sheary see time on the PK? His speed would seem to be an asset there.
Jason Mackey
1:53
There's more to it than speed. Shot-blocking. Reads. He doesn't have a long reach. One of the shortest, actually.

After the video the pens account posted this week I have to ask, and you may not know, but is Sid ticklish? It seemed like he very much so is!
Jason Mackey
1:53
How the heck would I know that?
Bob Sackamono
1:53
When should you charge your electric toothbrush?      When you can't pay cash.
Jason Mackey

Thanks, Bob. I'll remember that.
