Why are you dissing Philly restaraunts?!?!?!?!!?  Trying to give the Flyers more Bulletin Board Material?
Jason Mackey
1:54
If my answer in a chat gives them bulletin board material, they're in real trouble.

do you think we lost too much toughness with the loss of Cole and Reaves?
Jason Mackey
1:54
I don't. But I don't think the Penguins gained enough speed or offense in Reaves' spot on the fourth line. That, to me, is the bigger problem.

Hey, what is this story about you appearing in a Steven Seagel movie back in the 80s?  My buddy told me you were in a scene or two. True?
Jason Mackey
1:54
False.

I don’t have a “the athletic” account (I much prefer your writing Jason!) but there was an article on there that I saw some comments pertaining to and was curious if you knew the answers. It was in regards to Cullen eating dairy and gluten free. Some commenters said he was inspired by Crosby to eat this way and that a bunch of the penguins eat this way now. Is there any truth to that? If a bunch do follow this diet, do you know who? Also very curious what this means in relation to Jeff Zatkoff’s article from the 2016 playoffs where he pondered getting dessert and said, essentially, Crosby never denies himself a dessert. I know from experience it’s hard to find diary and gluten free dessert items!

I believe Michael Russo wrote something on Cullen's diet. I think I remember it being some habits, not the entire thing, that Cullen picked up from Sid. I know Crosby loves his sweets.

Any chance we see Michael Leighton in net When he is off the injury list?
Jason Mackey
1:55
No, I don't think so. Both Jarry and DeSmith are better options.

Is Sheary actually dating Sullivan's niece? Several people were talking about this on twitter. Didn't know if you could confirm. Thanks Mackey!
Jason Mackey
1:55
He's married to Sullivan's niece, I believe. You can Google it.

Jason Mackey

No.

Are the Pens allowed to look at some kind of surprise player other than the AHL or Sprong and some them to a 2 way contract after the trade deadline in different leagues anywhere?
Jason Mackey
1:56
I have zero clue what you're asking here. A surprise player? Like behind door No. 2?

Reporters aren't permitted to disclose what they see during certain NFL practices.  Do similar strange rules apply to observing NHL "closed" practices, if there even are such occasions?
Jason Mackey
1:56
No. NHL practices are 100 percent open to being reported on. Much different than football.

I was at the game in Wilkes-Barre this past Sunday. Sprong was skating on the 3rd line and on the 2nd PP. You still think we'll see him in Pittsburgh again this season?
Jason Mackey
1:57
I do. I think they'll see how he responded to his last shot. I also think he can score He's gone through stretches where he has, but he has the offensive ability. No doubt about that.

Jason, who is the next D man up after Ruhlwedel, if needed?    Sorry you don't have to answer anymore 3C questions.
Jason Mackey
1:57
I'm not. My guess would be Pedan, who's making his sixth appearance in this chat.

Last time pens lost 3 in a row..do Pens really have a chance against powerhouse Bruins?
Jason Mackey
1:58
Yes, they do. I think they get back to it tonight. They're a much different team now than they were in mid-December.

NJ looked really scary both times we have played them now (can't believe I am saying that).  Would that be the team you would least like to see if the playoffs now?
Jason Mackey
1:58
Team I'd least like to see is Tampa, hands down. But the Jersey matchups haven't been great. I do think there's a concern there. Jersey is really good. And fast. Few teams can skate with the Penguins. Devils are one of them.

Would you guess that ZAR is month to month with the UBI?
Jason Mackey

He's out for a while. I know that.

There seems to be a disconnect between Sprong and the organization.  Do you think he might request a trade like Jonathan Drouin did with TB a couple years ago?
Jason Mackey
1:59
There seems to be a disconnect? On what are you basing that? A young player learning what it takes to play in the NHL? Don't think Sprong's the first to experience that.

Would you remove Jake from Sid's line, knowing that Sid can carry the uneven weight of producing with any player.  Put him back with Phil.
Jason Mackey
1:59
No. I would try to get Sid and the Kids going, as I wrote in my 20 Thoughts this week. Best thing for everyone involved.

Do you think we will see Michael Leighton anytime soon if Matt continues to be out, that is when he is off the injury list
Jason Mackey

Not unless Jarry and DeSmith also get hurt.

Why isn't Ruhwedel playing?  I think he's been good when he's been given a chance to play.
Jason Mackey

Fair question. I'm surprised they haven't tried to get him a game just to keep him fresh.
