No, I don't. They had won four of five going into last night. I think we're all a little too down for some reason. It'll be OK, Jeremy. Long season.

Do you think they cut bait on Sprong this summer? Is it really that he needs to develop his 2 way game, or is he not a good fit for Sullivan? Seems like the shine is off of him as a prospect/trade chip but maybe I'm just seeing it from a fan's perspective.
Jason Mackey
3:04
No, no, no, no, no. Why would they "cut bait?" Because a young kid hasn't immediately made it to the NHL? No. They need to have patience, and they do.
I think you're looking at it from a little bit too much of a fan's perspective, Dave, but don't apologize for it; you are a fan.

Is the NHL aware of how minor league their TV production comes off with a dope like Milbury in the booth/studio? I don't know why they don't try Anson Carter as a color commentator or feature him more, I think he'd be great. Or Colby Armstrong. Anyone under 60 years old would be a step up, don't you think?
Jason Mackey

Colby is awesome. He'd have my complete endorsement. Yeah, I'm not sure they understand what it looks like to the casual fan. Milbury is a fool.

Three cups to two... so Sid over Mario??
Jason Mackey
3:05
C'mon. I should have expounded. But they both put up numbers. Both did a lot of great things. Mario is on his own planet. Not how I meant that.

How often do you see games in Wilkes-Barre, and if you don't where do you get you WB insight from?
Jason Mackey

Couple times a year. Usually Rutherford ... wait a second, I think I got this one already, no?
Jason Mackey

That's all for today!  Thanks for the chat everyone.  I had a great time as always!
Jason Mackey

Whoa, that was trippy.

In one of the recent chats, I believe you made an offhand comment that Crosby probably wasn't a 40 goal scorer anymore.  That comment surprised me: he scored 44 goals last season! So, do you think he's still an elite player--but one who has lost something off his fastball and who won't return to the same level again? Or isn't it possible he could have a year next year like Malkin is having?  It seems unlikely his shooting percentages would be as low next year as they have been this year. It's true I've never thought of him as a Goal Scorer, but he's second (to Ovechkin) in goals since he entered the league.

My point in saying that was he's probably not going to score 40 goals a year. He's the best all-around player in the game. I see last year as above what we should expect from him goal-wise. ... Crosby is a very good goal-scorer, but he's better at creating offense, distributing the puck and making his linemates better.

Am I the only one that thinks the NBC announcers are anti-Penguin? Especially Pierre!
Jason Mackey
3:08
Can't speak for the other NBC announcers, but Pierre is not "anti-Penguins." The dude raves all the time about Pittsburgh, the team and his time here.

We've seen how relationships between goalies and goalie coaches have evolved. When Mitch Korn stepped aside from his full-time gig in Washington this year, Holtby's game has dropped off. Coincidence? Do you feel that goalie coaches and goalies will be "traded" or "let go" as was the case with PIT this year with Bales and Fleury?
Jason Mackey
3:09
Yeah, fair or unfair, a lot of times goaltending coaches get labeled as ______ 's guy. Like Bales. But I do get it. Mike Buckley is very close with Murray. Right or wrong, he's viewed as Murray's guy. When Murray isn't the No. 1 anymore, I wouldn't be shocked if the Penguins moved on from Bales. It's just how this stuff works.

Just giving you a hard time, man. Mario over everyone.
Jason Mackey

All good. I deserved it. That answer could've been better.

OK, folks. That really does do it. Off to lunch with the family. Thanks for participating. Back at it Saturday after a (sort of) day off tomorrow.
