hey jason
Jason Mackey
2:54
Hi Brian.
Brian
2:54
it seems to me that kris letang is not being very aggressive with putting the puck at the net on the power play. do you think sullivan would put schultz back on the top line power play since it seems to me that he not only shoots more but there is a purpose with his shots
Jason Mackey
2:54
Sullivan does do that, Brian. He rotates the two regularly. And yes, Schultz does usually take more of a shoot-first approach.

Thanks, Bob.

NBA Jam = great video game.

This is totally subjective, but do you think Malkin has passed Jagr on the all-time Pens players list? Not in career accomplishments, but as a Penguin, is he right behind Mario and Sid?
Jason Mackey
2:55
Three Cups to two ... I'd say so.

2:55
Is Kessel nursing an injury?  He seems to have trouble handling the puck lately.
Jason Mackey
2:55
He is, but I don't think it's playing a huge role with him handling the puck. Phil just has those moments. He takes risks. Sometimes they backfire. I love that about him.

Why does everyone say a team has won X amount of cups these days?!  I only have one cup!  The Penguins, for example, have won my cup 5 times.  They haven't won 5 of them!
Jason Mackey

Rossi, is this you?

Someone in my family was part of the investigation of DeSmith's UNH incident. Both the school and police found he was 100% innocent of the things he was accused of. He wasn't even charged because the accusations were so bogus. She is fortunate DeSmith has chosen not to press charges against her as it would have totally derailed his career. We can be thankful that nobody was physically hurt and both have moved on with their lives in a positive way. I do not expect any self-respecting journalist to venture into this backstory but don't be surprised that if someday the air is cleared by a blogger or investigative reporter.
Jason Mackey
2:57
I did not bring up the Casey talk, by the way. It was asked. Charges are dropped. Seems to be the opinions directed toward the player should be, too. I think that's why none of the beat guys have dug into it.

I don't understand the schedulers, why would they leave all 3 games against Montreal to the last 12 games of the season?
Jason Mackey
2:57
No logical reason for you there. Weird.

2:57
Any thoughts on why the PP has struggled recently?
Jason Mackey
2:57
Too much passing. Trying to be too cute. They need to simplify.
Albert
2:57
Do you like Simon as the LW on the third line? It’s a shame he got hurt, I thought he looked decent there with Brassard and Kessel. Thanks for your input!
Jason Mackey
2:58
I would much rather have Rust there, Albert. Given Simon's injury, I think we will see Rust there for the foreseeable future. Simon was too up and down, in my opinion.
Phil
2:58
Do the reporters know what the injuries actually are? I realize why you can't say if that's the case, but I'm just curious if you do actually know.
Jason Mackey
2:59
We say what we know. We would never agreed to get censured by the team. If we know it, trust me, it does us no good to withhold information. Problem is there's not often information that's attainable.
Mason Jackey
2:59
Who do you think NBC should have as a guest commentator the next time they cover a Pens game?
Jason Mackey
2:59
Nobody. But if they have to have someone, go to a corner bar and get the drunkest guy in there.
HB
2:59
Did the post gazette do a March madness bracket challenge? Who do you have winning?
Jason Mackey
2:59
Not that I'm aware of. I haven't filled out a single bracket. Not into it that much.

Jason, I know losing Rick Tocchet was tough on Sully, understandably so. But how has the coaching staff adapted to his loss in your opinion, and how has Mark Recchi’s role evolved this season?
Jason Mackey
3:00
Quite well, actually. Recchi's role has grown nicely. He's done a really good job adjusting to the AC role. Martin has taken on some of Tocc's duties, too. But I think the staff has absorbed the loss just fine.

Are the hot dogs at Centre Bell REALLY that good? What arena has the best grub or don't you partake in their offerings?
Jason Mackey
3:01
They are that good. They're incredible. Best food ... hmm, probably Carolina or Boston. Montreal is definitely up there.

Why did you have such a problem with Kid Rock at the ASG last month? You said whoever they pick should "unite everyone" which seems like code for "not support Trump." Honest question, did you think Snoop united everyone the year before? I know I loved watching the skills comp with my son when he blasted his uncensored songs and I don't remember you being so perturbed with his being there.
Jason Mackey
3:02
Snoop has no business playing an All-Star Event where little kids are present. Guess it wasn't a conversation topic back then. Sorry. But I don't think that he should be there, either. Get a family friendly act that doesn't overtly offend people. How hard is that?
Joe's Other Potato
3:02
Do you see many games in Wilkes-Barre throughout the season, if not - where do you get your information on players/performance and stuff?
Jason Mackey
3:02
Only a couple. Usually Rutherford, Guerin or other members of the front office who see them play on a regular basis. Scott Young (director of player development) is also an excellent resource.

If the Penguins were to shop Hunwick this offseason, what would you think a fair return would be?
Jason Mackey
3:03
Anything to take the contract, honestly. Sixth-round pick in 2019?
Jeremy
3:03
Do you agree that the penguins have looked worse since the trade deadline? If so, any particular thoughts on why that might be?
