Kessel missed an empty net.  Hornqvist missed a cross crease half empty net where he shot it at the goalie.  Malkin had a grade A chance on the doorstep.  All of the NYI goals were direct results of a careless turnover, an absurd and unnecessary icing by Olli Maatta and Brian Dumoluin (of all people) blowing his in zone coverage.  It wasn't like NYI were the superior team, who were whipping around tape to tape passes and dominating play.  Pens clean up the sloppy and finish off more of the Grade A chances, things will get really tough for the Isles.

I agree with you. Penguins were right there.

Why Do you think People get hard on the Pens for losing one game when all they've done in the past 10 years is make the playoffs and win 3 cups? I feel like they deserve a bit more slack compared to other disapointing teams in Pittsburgh.

I would think so, too, but they usually don't get it. Tough standard, I guess, I don't know.
Who me?

I hope that was sarcasm on the Faceoffs is overrated comment....

I wasn't. Go back and look at faceoff percentages for successful teams over the last, say, five years. There's not much of a correlation.

I would like to see the Pens play a more patient game, I felt they were constantly trying to force plays that weren't there. The turnovers really fed the Isles attack. If we play more patiently, come back deep as a 5 man group, to help our D, our chances will come. We have way more fire power from an offensive standpoint, we will inevitably get our looks. Playing above the puck and not getting caught deep, we will create more turnover chances in the neutral zone as well.

I think Mike Sullivan has joined the chat, folks.
Just messing with you, Dave. You make some very good points. Anyway, I gotta go get ready for practice. Thanks everyone for participating. Talk to yinz again next week.
