What % chance do you give the Penguins of winning the Cup this year?
Jason Mackey
1:07
Maybe 75? I don't know an exact number, but I don't think they're in a bad spot right now.
Karen

Who's your favorite character on Friends? Rachel? All the guys seem to like her the best.
Jason Mackey
1:08
Ha. I'll go with Rachel, too.

A lot of folks online were bagging on Maatta's performance last game. I don't know enought about hockey to know if that is warranted or not?
Jason Mackey
1:09
He hasn't been good this series, but a lot of fans seem to think that Maatta should retire from hockey or something; the pendulum swings are wild. I don't understand that. He was their best defenseman earlier this postseason. Maatta needs to get back to playing a simpler game.

The Penguins put up temporary guard rails/fence on game days to prevent the drunk losers from walking in front of cars. Can you please pull some strings and ask them do this EARLY afternoon instead of at 4pm in the middle of rush hour traffic? Thanks in advance.
Jason Mackey
1:09
Nope, I can't. Sorry.

I read that Dwayne PghGuy was going to get his own PG Blog. He clearly knows his stuff but is really obnoxious. Do you think having a Mark Madden type is good for the PG site?
Jason Mackey
1:09
A Mark Madden type? What do you mean? And, no, Dwayne isn't getting his own blog. He's just going to continue asking 100 questions here every Thursday.

Jason, you thought you could hide it, but we know today is your birthday. HAVE A HAPPY ONE, DUDE! How old are you now anyway?
Jason Mackey
1:10
Today is not my birthday.

Is crossing your legs bad for you?
Jason Mackey
1:10
I have no idea. I cover hockey. If it is, I'm in trouble.

Tom Dick keeps threatening people in the comments section. Why is this tolerated and can you look into getting him banned?
Jason Mackey
1:10
I haven't seen any of this, but I can have our people look into it.

If Murray gives up 2 or 3 goals glove side tonight, will he still tell reporters during post game interviews that it isn't an issue and that he played well?
Jason Mackey
1:11
Very likely, yes. Murray doesn't criticize him much. I don't know if it's ego, truth or a device he uses as part of mental training. It's interesting, but he's rarely critical of himself.

What a funny PghGuy there Dwayne, just want to know who made him the chat RA in here? But he's wrong again, “genius” was the day I said it and MM started, which also coincided with the Coach’s decision btw. And not left with the shoulda coulda wouldas of starting a then beaten down MAF, and potentially giving a game7 away - like he’s done in the past. But we’ll know better tonite if the decision to stick with MM pays off. Here’s the kicker, if MM gives up a couple quick/bad goals I’d yank him and ride the now rested vet MAF. Like I said before this is strictly business, all about winning Stanley Cups. What are your thoughts on this and how the series will play out, Jason? Thanks.
Jason Mackey

I think Murray bounces back in a big way tonight. Maybe a shutout. I said earlier 4-1, and I stick by that. And I think Murray is a big reason why they win big.
Brandon
1:12
Who wins tonight? And if the Press win how good of a chance %wise to the Pens have to force a game 7?
Jason Mackey
1:13
I think the Pens win tonight. Also wouldn't be shocked if Nashville holds serve in its own building, and we see a Game 7 back here.

What explanation could possibly be given for yanking Fleury in Ottawa after 4 goals but sticking w Murray after 8 goals an 2 losses an still starting game 5 knowing he has a weak glove side. Don't believe there is any answer but favoritism what say you
Jason Mackey
1:13
Murray is Sullivan's guy. They also like Murray's calm demeanor back there. And I agree with Sullivan that I don't think the Penguins lost in Nashville because of goaltending.
Dwayne PghGuy

Where do you like to watch the hockey game? Press box? Stands? Home? Bar?
Jason Mackey
1:14
The PG doesn't give me much a choice. Probably for good reason given your last option.

Hi Jason,

Hi, Bruce.

Why do you think NHL leadership is against calling more penalties? We know that offense sells and goals per game are highly correlated with Power Play opportunities per game.
Jason Mackey
1:15
The officials don't want to call stuff because they want the players to decide the outcome. But by not calling penalties, they're actually influencing the outcome. I know myself, I would totally be in favor of letting less go.

I just wanted to say that you are the Penguins beat writer for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and a large part of your job is writing articles on the Penguins that appear in the Post Gazette. The Penguins of course are a sports organization that play a lot of their games in Pittsburgh but also play their games in other cities when mayors of those cities challenge the Pittsburgh mayor (Bill Peduto) to send a team of his cities best sportsmen to play a sports match.
Jason Mackey
1:15
Accurate.
Dan
1:15
What do you think is a fair return for Marc Andre Fleury ?
Jason Mackey
1:16
Hard to say right now. Will be better in the offseason. The answer is whatever teams are willing to pay, but I don't want to be a smart [butt] and say that now. I'll say this, though: I think it increased based on what Fleury did in the first two rounds.
Dave Chlystek
1:16
Hey Jason, How do the Pens keep sustained pressure on in Nashville's end? Can't seem to do it at all YET this series?
Jason Mackey
1:17
Good point. Shoot the puck one. Hunt pucks. Smart decisions. Cycle. A lot of things. Good puck support. There are a lot of things that go into it.

With the extra day off were any of the players able to attend the annual Sunnyvale cheesburger picnic on Tuesday evening?
Jason Mackey
1:17
I don't believe that's how they spent their off day.
Ryan Rishaug
1:17
Man sure was warm in Nashville, did you wear sandals while you were there? if so what style?
Jason Mackey
1:18
I did not, sorry. It's cold around the rink.
