Yeah, a little bit. I think they don't have to look over their shoulder as much. I also think it could feel a little like a moral victory, a bit of second life. But the Capitals seem pretty charged up about it, too. Might wind up being a wash.

A good game by Murray for tonight. But longer term, probably the latter. It always starts with goaltending. If Lights Out Murray shows up, the Penguins have enough offense to win that game.

Depends on where you go. Pittsburgh is good about it, but Philly had some dude whooping it up. It does happen from time to time, believe it or not. ... Talking about the press box.

Speaking of awful refs, Brad Watson is doing the game tonight and the Pens are 3-9 in the last 3 seasons when he refs them and probably not much better in the playoffs.  Are players aware of stats like this and do they get concerned they may get hosed?

No, they're not. Players are usually not aware who's reffing the game until they see the guy. Aside from people like Crosby, who probably follow the scheduling matrix to a T and memorize it.

Why are we so reluctant to give Sprong a try when our offense other than the Crosby line has been mediocre this series... especially over Simon. Ik HCMS has some trust issues defensively but he has fresh legs which could benefit and can shoot the puck

Totally fair. I think teams are accounting for them more. I also think they haven't been finishing as much. Rust has gotten some OK chances. Haven't gone in.

What’s your prediction the rest of the series from what you’ve seen so far? Part of me thinks the writing is on the wall and the other half thinks a team still has to beat the Pens four times.

Slight subject change- do you find the contingent of fans who denigrate Murray and pine for Fleury just mind-boggling? I love MAF, don't get me wrong, but I'm old enough to remember the fan base blaming every single playoff failure from 2010-2015 on him. Just seems like very selective memory. Sorry, it's been bothering me!

I agree with you. Hey, I think both goalies are great. But GMJR made a decision to go with a younger guy who makes significantly less, a business decision. Simple as that.

There is. They practice either way before or after. But they do skate, and we never see them. Don't know where they get dressed.

They're taking some unnecessary risks, I think to try and force some offense. I also think it happens with this team from time to time; they just get a little lackadaisical with that sort of thing.

With hindsight being 20/20, the lack of meaningful play by Brassard, and the quality of play the team was at before the trade, do you think the Brassard trade is leaning bust?

As of now, yes. They never would've given up Ian Cole for one goal in nine games. But it's not fair to grade it at this point.

With Oshie being quoted saying (after he believed he got hit in the head), “Refs have told me before, ‘He’s bigger than you’”. Does there need to be a serious culture change in the reffing organization? And how do you go about actually changing it?

Absolutely, and I don't know. Oshie's comments were sort of disgusting, but I appreciate his candor anyway. The entire culture needs fixed if what he said is accurate.
