I think they will, No. 1. But they need to get more from Matt Murray, get more goals from their middle-six, and they need to more diligent with managing the puck. That's my top three, anyway.

Hi Jason, what’s your take on containing/defending against Ovi? Seems he’s absolutely firing at will.
Jason Mackey
1:45
Yeah, I would definitely recommend doing it.

Please rank from most fun to most challenging the following activities-conducting chats, hosting with Starkey on the radio, hosting with Mueller on the radio, interviewing Rutherford, meeting a deadline when the games go overtime?
Jason Mackey

1. Rutherford ... 2. Chats. ... 3. Hosting with Starkey ... 4. Deadline. ... 5. Hosting with Mueller.

What kinds of food do you eat when you are at the arena?  Hot dogs, nachos, a hot pretzel?
Jason Mackey
1:46
Whatever the media meal is. No, I don't eat like a fan. I can't. I go to 82 games a year plus playoffs. I'd be 500 pounds, dead or both.

In my professional opinion it's obvious that Kessel is hurt, why won't you just tell us the truth
Jason Mackey
1:47
Tell you the truth? Do you think I know exactly what is bothering him, and I'm not saying because I think it's fun to withhold information? C'mon.

TK, Rowney, Simon etc leave me pining away for Craig Adams. Sheary is a complete non factor come playoffs.  How bad could Sprong really be off the puck and was it a huge error letting Kunitz walk?  CK would be a perfect 4th liner and not that expensive at this juncture
Jason Mackey
1:48
I think it was an error letting Kunitz walk, but that's independent of this. Secondarily, you should never pine for Craig Adams. ... The Penguins' depth has taken a hit, no two ways about it. But they are capable of getting more than they currently are at the moment.

I find it interesting that you say Sullivan doesn't care for the kind of game Sprong plays. Do you think the odds are good that they move him this summer, maybe for a young, controllable D man?
Jason Mackey
1:48
I think they would be amenable to it, yeah. But they wouldn't do it just to do it.
Mike

Is Daniel Sprong still property of the Penguins in training camp in your opinion?
Jason Mackey
1:48
Tough to say. I don't have a good enough feel for the external market on him.

Over the past 2 Caps series and this one, Penguins have scored more than 3 goals a grand total of once in 16 games. Hard to argue with the results (though we'll see what happens over the next week) but does that number surprise you as much me when I read it?
Jason Mackey
1:49
Not really. They've also won the previous ones, no? It's the playoffs. Goals are harder to come by. Capitals are a tight-checking team. It's reality.

Pens played a good third game will no Wilson help out?
Jason Mackey
1:49
Yeah, I think it will.
Artie
1:49
What do you think the refs think of the Wilson suspension considering a penalty wasn’t called in the game?
Jason Mackey
1:49
They're the old-guard. They disagree with it, guarantee. And that's sick. We're talking about a guy's brain, for crying out loud.

Have you ever witnessed a fight in the press box due to someone not appreciating another's cheering?
Jason Mackey
1:50
Nope. Just dressing room bickering among members of the media.

Why does NBC stick with Mike Emrick? He announces like it is a radio feed.
Jason Mackey

Don't you come into my chat and criticize Doc.

We Penguins fans are veering dangerously into insufferable territory. Always down on certain players, always finding the negatives, without realizing how lucky we've been during this incredible run. I know that's part of being a fan but man, they've won two straight titles in an era that actively tries to stifle that kind of dynasty. Why can't we just enjoy it?
Jason Mackey
1:50
That's a very good question.

Tickets to the circus, tickets to a production of Hamlet, or tickets to tonight's Pens' game?  What do you think?
Jason Mackey
1:50
Wouldn't be the first, I know that. I hate the circus. Inhumane toward animals. Will never, ever go.

Jason, who among the Penguins forwards would you rank as the top three most difficult to play against?  That is, who throws checks such that as a series progresses, they wear down an opponent's defense? Guentzel has surprised me with his aggressive style.
Jason Mackey
1:51
1. Crosby ... 2. Malkin ... 3. Hornqvist. Being difficult to play against doesn't have to involve checks.
Lord of Carson

A sprong question of a different sort then.  Is it a personality conflict between Sully and him then?  Talent wise he brings a lot more potential than the WB kids.  It seems Sully favors who played for him there, and Sprong didn't I believe
Jason Mackey
1:51
It's not a personality thing. I just think what Sprong does isn't a natural fit for Sullivan's system. Sullivan wants responsible, two-way guys. Sprong isn't going to be that on his best day.

Love your Pens coverage Jason, you really do a fantastic job. Letang can be an elite defenseman when he wants to, however, it seems he may be trying to do too much this series. He keeps getting himself in trouble pinching, being out of position, and making poor turnovers as a result. What do you think of his play this series?
Jason Mackey
1:52
Thanks, Cassidy. I actually think Letang has been really good this series. His third period of Game 1 stands out, for one. But I've been absolutely fine with what he's done. No issues here. There's gonna be some bad.
Matt
1:52
I know Tom Wilson, is on the Caps top line, but how much do you think this loss actually hurts them? Series altering loss?
Jason Mackey
1:53
Could be. I think they count on him for a lot, believe it or not. But they seem pretty fired up about it. Could motivate them as much as anything.
Updated Poll

Please rank the Pens' defensemen, one through six over both playoff series up until now.  Despite the pinching problem, I've been impressed.
Jason Mackey
1:53
1. Dumoulin 2. Letang 3. Schultz 4. Maatta 5. Ruhwedel 6. Oleksiak.
