Tough to say. So many variables. But I do think Letang will be much, much better than he was last season. I'm expecting a big year from him.

Speaking of the Dead and hockey, do you happen to know if the Penguins ownership would consider playing any Grateful Dead music in between periods? Right now it seems to be mostly pop or light pop rock

I hope you’re right about Simon btw...I see nothing in him except a meh player....doesn’t do anything particular great but he’s a solid bottom 6 player...just should not be playing with Sid

I think the potential is there, but the question was who I expect to start there. I'd still go with Hornqvist. Again, that could change, but I would start with Hornqvist.

I don't. He's never played there. I think the better option is to play him with center and get him some better, regular wingers.

Hey Jason, loved your profile on Matt Murray, he might not be the lovable goofball like MAF, but he seems like such a down to earth kid that you can’t help liking him. Do you have any stories about him that you haven’t managed to fit into a column?

Thanks, jack. Appreciate that. And he is; Murray is a really, really good dude. Tremendous to deal with. ... I have stuff, but it's off-the-record, and it would be unfair to Matt if I shared it. Just know that he really is a tremendous person, a worthy heir to Fleury.

2 questions - Can the pens realistically make the playoffs this season and would PK Subban fit into the Pens rotation if the trade rumors are true? thank you!

Subban is not coming to Pittsburgh. Have no idea where that's coming from. And yes, they're going to make the playoffs. Probably easily. Question is how far they can go.

No, I think that would be impossible for the Penguins to swing. They just don't have the assets or anywhere near the cap space to make it happen.

Concerning a 4th line - I think a Sheahan-Rust combo could develop in a point scoring line that would give fits to most teams in the league.  I said it last year, Rust should be on the 4th line because he has all of those intangibles.   We got no production from the 4th line (3rd line too for that matter) and this is a good route to start

I agree with you, Dick. I think Rust adds a nice offensive element to the fourth line, and I'm expecting the Pens to see what he looks like in that capacity.
