No chance. I will glad do hits and appearances on the Fan. I love those guys. But I want to stay on the newspaper/journalism side and devote the majority of my time here. So much to report and write.

OK, I missed you last week by the deadline.   Quick version....why are guys like McKinny and Lamb on the roster absorbing AB's when we know they will not be on the team.  It has to be more than filling up the Indy roster.

They're giving them a chance to audition for teams. I also don't think it has been that much. Neither has played a ton. The Pirates are also trying to finalize decisions before opt-out dates.

The review and poll about the Pirates off-season in MLBtraderumors got me thinking.   What would you grade the Pirates for what they wanted to do, vs what a playoff MLB team should do in the off-season

Maybe a B-? I also hate grading things before outcomes. Teachers don't pass out untaken tests with letter grades on them. Why are we doing that here? Let it play out.

Clearly Marco Gonzales was a mistake. Who else could they have gotten instead ? Some FB Pirates Kool Aid drinker said Gonzales would "be a Cy Young contender". Clearly he likely won't. They also say the Pirates couldn't get a good or solid pitcher this offseason which is false.

I don’t feel so hopeless about Starters heading into opening day. If JJ starts with big club, Skenes is up Soon, with Brudabaker and Burrows returning, in addition and possibly really swell bullpen for and opener situation if need be, PLUS Preister, Ortiz, and other young arms am I mad to be almost optimistic??

No, there are a bunch who feel that way. There's also a group that's upset with what they haven't done. We'll just have to wait & see.

Just for clarification: Pirates most home runs in a season is 171 in 1999. That ranks 30th for a teams best season home run total (Braves and Twins t-1st with 307 in a season)

The NCAA Tournament lured me into thinking today is Saturday so I didn't think of the chat until now. Someone may have asked this, but if the Pirates are going to bring in guys with sexual baggage as in German's case why not go after Trevor Bauer?

Yeah, been asked. Concerns are more about what he's like in the clubhouse or how he affects teammates. Not sure I agree with them, but they don't involve his "allegations" and stuff he's been in the news for.

I feel the Pirates are very close and an ace starting pitcher puts them over the edge. Do Nutting and Cherington share this opinion?  If so, why not bite the bullet and sign Blake Snell? Thoughts?
