Very nice.

I believe it's been floating around that the Pirates still have a lot of international pool money to spend after their Hedges trade. Are they actually gonna use it before they can't any more?
Jason Mackey
1:27
I would fully expect them to use all of their bonus pool space.

Last one from Happy Thanksgiving to all out there in Bucco land..Can’t wait until my annual Bradenton week in March especially since for the first time I got a place on Anna Maria island..love that place
Jason Mackey

That's great! We're jealous. Starting to look at spring training places myself. Love it.

Cutch was nearly exclusively a DH last year.   Do you think this was more related to injuries (ie, he might have some more OF in him if he gets healthy), or are his OF days just simply behind him?
Jason Mackey
1:28
It was 100% related to injuries. He was banged up. I think he can still play some OF. And I think he will.

Who is your prediction for breakout player for next year?
Jason Mackey
1:28
Does Oneil Cruz still count? If not, I'm gonna go with Jared Jones.

Who do you most likely see the Pirates signing in terms of starting pitching?
Jason Mackey
1:29
I think Jack Flaherty makes a lot of sense. Kyle Gibson, Frankie Montas, Luis Severino, Wade Miley ... not saying all of them, but those are the types I'd be looking at.

Wouldn't the pirates be better off going for a solution at 1B than another stop gap? They don't have anyone in the system that appears to be the answer.
Jason Mackey
1:30
Triolo could be the answer. Malcom Nunez could be the answer. Endy Rodriguez (splitting catching with C/RF Henry Davis) could be the answer. We don't know. Weirdly, the offense was better without Santana last year than it was with him. Do they really need to spend that much money on a 1B? Or just get the young guys they have to produce?

Guess you don't want to hear my answer on the reason for hold up on offseason moves then!
Jason Mackey
1:30
Oh, I absolutely do. Just not here.

Fair to think there will be 2 rotation spots for the kids to fight for. Which of the group of Priester, Ortiz, Contreras, Burrows, maybe Jones do you have the most confidence will latch on and succeed?
Jason Mackey
1:31
Right now, I'm going Priester. He fixed the velocity. It's just a matter of putting it all together. I worry about Ro and how he finished the year, honestly. Burrows will be a midseason add. Ortiz looks like a reliever to me.

14 win improvement from last year, how much more improvement this year?
Jason Mackey
1:32
I'm going nine -- 85 wins.

What if the Pirates suffer another losing season. Will there be changes? Shelton gone? Cherrington gone?
Jason Mackey
1:33
It depends on what type. If it's 80-82, no. If it's 62-100, yeah, I think that's possible. Would be Shelton before Cherington, I would think. But they expect to win this year. If they don't, that sort of stuff happens.

What about trades? I think we could see a SP come in via trade.
Jason Mackey
1:34
It could, sure. There are all kinds of ways to explore the SP shortage. I think/hope they will.
OK, folks. That does it for this week. Thanks so much, as always. A ton of really good questions. Might be a mailbag week next week because of the holiday. So, Happy Thanksgiving!
