Jason, do you think more, less or genrally the same of Bill Belicheat now that it has been confirmed that he has scored a fairly legitimate trophy GF?
Jason Mackey
1:02
Hey, you can't say that he struggles to relate to the younger generation, right?

Which would you consider more irrelevant, Hall of Fames, All-Star Games or MLB record books?
Jason Mackey
1:02
Oh, All-Star Games. All day long.

Hi Jason.  Haven’t heard how Mr. Lange is doing and am hoping you might know.  Also, do you expect Jarry to be the starting goalie next season for the Pens?  Thanks.
Jason Mackey

Mike is doing OK. I owe him a text. He has health challenges, but he's still Mike Lange -- a wonderful human being, hilarious, legendary, all of that. Few things warm my heart like talking to Mikey.

Hi Jason, thanks for your time? What are you expecting from the Penguins at the NHL draft?
Jason Mackey
1:04
I think Dubas gets something done roster-wise. Makes too much sense. Not particularly worried about the picks. Maybe some size on defense, some skill that you can develop. But he needs to create some additional space.

Why would the Steelers pick the radio announcer and not the radio station?
Jason Mackey
1:05
Because it's their broadcast rights.

The Pirates make the playoffs if they add what position at the deadline?
Jason Mackey
1:05
Outfield bat.

Do you anticipate Bae or Peguero to be part of a trade? Who is most likely? And who id more valuable?
Jason Mackey
1:05
Probably Peguero? He has more prospect pedigree, although Bae can do more. And, yeah, I think both are perfect trade candidates. Blocked at the major league level. Guys other teams might think they can solve.

Jason, wonderful story on Sid Bream today. I get why people in your age group feel so deflated about that loss to the Braves, but at some point you gotta let it go. The Raiders whined about the Immaculate Reception but then they went out and won three Super Bowls. The Pirates need to give their fans something great to think about, like they did during the Cueto game. More of that, and the pain will go away.
Jason Mackey
1:06
Thank you very much! I'm not sure I need to tell Pirates fans how to process something like that. That's personal. Also, fan sentiment has nothing to do with on-field performance.

Hi Jason, I see where most people want the Pirates trade for a good hitter.  If they do can they include their hitting coach as part of the deal.  If they don’t he will hurt him.
Jason Mackey
1:07
Yeah, all our bad coaches for all of their good hitters. A trade as old as time.

"But if they don't agree with you -- and they don't -- why act indignant when they keep the guy?"
---- I love it when sportswriters tell sports fans they should not care about sports.
Jason Mackey

That's not what I said at all. ... I'm saying the Steelers want to keep Tomlin. We know this. They've told us time and time again. So why get pissed when they keep Tomlin?

Jason, now that I've hit for a month, am I also capable of 10 to 15 stolen bags per year?
Jason Mackey
1:08
I don't see why not. With those wheels? Or truck tires, as the case may be.

Jason, I agree with Carl in Carrick about the base running.  Cutch is one player who usually runs the play out.  He plays the game the way it should be played.  Younger players should try to play like he does.
Jason Mackey
1:08
I don't disagree with you. Although I also have someone in this chat complaining about his running. It's a balance. There's a time and place for everything. Down 7, I'm fine playing the long game. Down 1, run it out.

Is Grandl Skeen's persomal catcher? He has seemed to catch alot of his starts.
Jason Mackey

Grant Koch caught some. They have liked Grandal with him. That may be nearing its end.

Hello Jason. I read the article on Sid Bream, good guy. My question is if that play happens today and the Pirates challenge, is Sid out? Giddy up!
Jason Mackey
1:09
Thanks, Cosmo. I don't think so. I still think he was safe, much as it pains me to type that.

A 26 Man Roster with #6 players (i.e. Skenes, Keller, Jones, Bednar, Holderman & Reynolds) is NOT a Team... let alone a Wild Card Team!!! OK... Jay Mack Daddy to be fair I'll toss in Hayes, Cruz, Nicky G., Mlodzinski & Ortiz. Still I only count #11. That ain't enuff my friend. Sorry.

I'll work harder in July.

Do you believe if Paul Skenes and Jared Jones don’t get sign to long term contracts, then don’t expect anyone to show up because ownership doesn’t care? It sounds like they aren’t going to so what’s the point in all of this?
Jason Mackey
1:10
Very existential, John. I don't think Skenes and Jones are going to sign anything long-term. That's OK. I do think the Pirates will add. Enough? Not sure. But I'm not at the point of saying, "Screw this. It's pointless."
1:11
OK, folks. That's it for me today. Gonna take the wonderful Abby Mackey out to lunch. Thanks so much for doing this. Have a great weekend and talk to you next week!
