Um, yeah. I didn't need this instance to tell me that. It's a farce. It's all about money. And they can attract eyeballs on Christmas. So screw everything else. But whether it's three games in 11 days, a 17-game schedule that'll soon be 18 or whatever, money rules all.

Will the NCAA have a problem with players opting out of bowl/playoff games as in the past? Personally, I wouldn't risk injury Do NIL contacts have playing requirements? The players have control now for sure. Good for them.
Jason Mackey

Not that I'm aware of. And I can't see what anyone could do to stop it. I guess you could write into an NIL contract that it becomes void if there's an opt-out. Same time, those are usually done for guys who are getting drafted. So, they may not care.

Do we get the same vibe now that the pirates will have to use a decent chunk of their spending nickels and dimes for a veteran inning eater to fill Ortiz’s spot for a bit? This deal has me puzzled
Jason Mackey
12:51
No, I still think they have enough pitching depth to cover it. See above. They might spend nickles and dimes, but not for this.

i am a 38 year old bucco fan. What is a better chance of happening in my lifetime: bucs winning World Series? Or me landing on the moon!

What's your familiarity with rehydratable foods?

I was gonna sign with the Pirates but your owner refused to spring for a Primanti's gift card

I thought it was Sheetz. My mistake.

I think the Steelers are doing so well this year because Jebus Rump  came to the game and blessed the team
Jason Mackey
12:53
Yeah, I'm sure that's it.

It feels like the Bucs gave up a lot for a platoon 1B. Do you think they value years of control over acquiring a better player for a short time period?
Jason Mackey
12:53
Yes, I do. And by years of control, we really mean a player they think can perform at a reasonable level while playing on a very cheap contract.

I meant to ask about you're train trip, haha. I went Pit to NYC once and said never again. Waaay to long, too expensive. Just drive next time, or fly. I wouldn't even say the ACELA in the DC Boston cooridor is an improvement over driving/flying... maybe Bos to NYC - but that's it.
Jason Mackey

I thought it would save money. $241 round trip, $60 to park, driving to Harrisburg (gas & tolls). Just not worth it. Would have been better off flying.

Did you read Cherington’s quotes the last few days from Winter Meetings? What did you make of his wanting Chapman back but he was waiting and being uncomfortable trading but had to consider like Cleveland, Tampa and Milwaukee do. Is he that clueless in his role?
Jason Mackey
12:55
I don't doubt they had interest in Chapman. I just don't see why Chapman would want to come back. He pitched well. Another team was going to pay him. He has a better chance at a ring elsewhere. I don't begrudge him.
OK, folks. That does it for this week. Thanks so much for adjusting. Let's do this again real soon!
