I don't understand the Reds-Kluber thing.  Unless he is a 25 win pitcher, why would Reds be buying short term asset like Kluber?

For one thing, Corey Kluber is very good
For another thing, the Reds are gradually coming out of their ditch
For a third thing, I think Reds' ownership is impatient
The NL Central is already crowded with good baseball teams, so it doesn't seem like this is really the Reds' best time to strike, but I can't be mad at a team for trying

What is DJ LeMahieu going to find as a free-agent second baseman? 2/$25 million? Something like that? Profar has two years of control, for which he'll get paid something like $10 million. He might be a better hitter than LeMahieu, but he's a worse defender. The value here is lower than you'd think

Of course the possibility exists that Profar will improve, since he's not even 26, but the Rangers weren't going to be able to spin him for a blockbuster. He's just not that kind of player

I think he's probably seen as about a 3.5 WAR player for the short-term. A bit of upside beyond that
