I've been to day games at Camden Yards and Nationals Park recently, brilliant sunny days, and all the lights were on. Why?!

Is Batspeed tracked by anyone? I feel like Albies has a lot of bat speed
Jeff Sullivan
9:53
There are personal devices that some players use but there's nothing public
Besides, it's not clear exactly what you're supposed to measure anyway
9:54
And at the end of the day, what matters is how hard the ball comes off the bat. We have that data now

I'm pleasantly surprised by the Brewers so far, nothing great but nothing terrible.  Do they have the talent to hang with the Cubs/Cards?  I feel like their bullpen is their strength that could keep them in it.
Jeff Sullivan
9:54
They probably have the best bullpen in baseball, but I think they're likely to need a starter unless Jimmy Nelson comes back looking strong
Zach Davies just had a setback and Wade Miley is hurt again for a while. Thin crop

OK Jeff, what's your expert opinion on whether or not the Jays should bring up Vlad, Jr.?
Jeff Sullivan
9:57
Don't think you do it now. Do think you could do it in a month, depending on how things settle out

The other day I was thinking of unique player skillsets and I came up with this question for you: who is the last notable hitter you can think of who had a ton of power and above average defense with absolutely nothing else to offer? Strike out and walk numbers are not impressive and not a great contact hitter, just a dude that can go yard and field.
Jeff Sullivan
9:59
Almost Randal Grichuk, but I guess he has some small amount of baserunning value
Adam Duvall?

is pat corbin a sell high right now?
Jeff Sullivan

I don't know how fantasy baseball works. But I know if I were the Diamondbacks, I'd be nervously sweating

Thank you for talking with us Jeff...thank you
Jeff Sullivan

You're welcome, of course, but also this is my job
Chatting is literally a weekly obligation
But it is a fun one!

Is Starlin Castro an attractive July target or too much contract?
Jeff Sullivan
10:01
Too much contract for not enough player
10:02
The contract isn't exorbitant and some team might figure Castro will improve in another lineup and environment. But that's probably more of an August waiver thing

The Marlins have already had four crowds of under 6,000 people this season. When is the last time a team had that many over a full season? Maybe the Expos towards the end?
Jeff Sullivan
10:04
In the 30-team era, stretching back to 1998, the 2001 Expos played 71 games with a paid attendance under 10,000
10:05
Of those games, 68 were at home. Forgot to add that part
10:06
Those same 2001 Expos played 35 home games with a paid attendance under 6,000
10:07
As you said, this year's Marlins are already at four. The last team to do that over a full season was the 2004 Expos (19)

What should the Braves do about 3B and Jose Bautista? It seems  like they aren't willing to give up what Machado would take, but Moustakas could be a pretty cheap addition.
Jeff Sullivan
10:10
Little sense worrying about trades on May 11 anyway. Nothing meaningful is likely to happen for at least another month, which gives the situation ample time to sort itself out
The Braves will know by then whether Bautista has anything left in the tank. It wouldn't be hard for them to afford a Moustakas rental, if need be. With Machado, they're likely to be outbid
Tom
10:11
Is it crazy for White Sox or Padres fans to look at the Braves and think that could be them in a year or two?
Jeff Sullivan
10:12
No, it's not crazy. But it is optimistic

10:13
Do you have any insights on when Eloy Jimenez might make his MLB debut? thanks
Jeff Sullivan
10:15
He got a late start to the season, because of a strained pec, and he still has limited experience above Single-A. The White Sox aren't going to move him too fast in a lost season. But it's not like Delmonico is much of an obstacle, and whenever Avisail Garcia returns, he'll become an instant trade candidate
So I'd be thinking early August
Joe
10:16
What the heck is wrong with Kole Calhoun?
Jeff Sullivan
10:17
Something here is very, very ugly. He's getting eaten alive by fastballs. He's getting eaten alive by everything. His expected wOBA is down to .276
10:18
This is more than a regular slump -- there's something behind the scenes. I don't know what it is, but if it isn't fixed fast, we should see more and more Jabari Blash
