It's no longer a one-track-minded approach to following baseball. I like some people with the A's, so I like that they get to enjoy this

The Orioles are playing an elimination game today.
Jeff Sullivan

And Zach Britton won't pitch in it!

Will Travis be replaced (and side note, he was amazing and this is sad), or was this anticipated already by the addition of Dan Szym?
Jeff Sullivan
11:01
No, this wasn't anticipated, but 538 will give Travis the opportunity to just write for one dedicated place, instead of having bylines at FG, ESPN, and The Athletic. It's just simpler
I'm going to talk to Appelman about what happens from here. It's always good to be looking for talent

Is swinging strike % an issue if K% is kept at normal rates? Is that a sustainable approach?
Jeff Sullivan
11:02
Depends on the player and depends on the explanation. You always have to dig if K% and SwS% don't agree with one another
For a pitcher, maybe it's just a matter of good command. But for a hitter, if the whiff rate is high, I'd expect the strikeout rate to eventually follow suit
All Cats Are Beautiful

I completely forgot about the existence of Carlos Delgado until I was surfing baseball-reference today. Who is the best player today who will be largely forgotten in 15-20 years?
Jeff Sullivan
11:03
Eugenio Suarez
All right, I need to get rolling
11:04
So thank you everybody for hanging out, and I'm sorry for what I didn't or couldn't address. We'll do it again next week at the same time, and until then, be well and have great days
